So there are several brands out there. What's your favorite, and why?

Things to consider would be weight, durability or construction, and function.

Let's see some pix of them as well.

So no one has an opinion on side saddles?

Give it more than 9 hours and you might get more replies.

Mesa Tactical is a recommended brand, and Tac-star makes a side saddle.

Mesa Tactical SS don't hide the serial #, where as the Tac star ones do.

Mesa Tactical is a machined metal holder with a great reputation but cost a little more money.

Tac-Star makes a plastic holder that can break and has screw stripping problems but costs less money.

Those are the two that I have seen and handled and it really comes down to the old saying of you get what you pay for.  One other option would be to use some high strength velcro on the tac-star and just stick it to the side of your gun rather than use the supplied setup.

I've used Tacstar and the plastic broke on me. I then went to Mesa Tactical, they work just like they should and are very durable, but pricey.

I have since moved on to nylon saddles that attach with velcro. They are "modular" and will stick to anything you put velcro on like the left side of your receiver. They also fit in AR mag pouches if you have a warbelt or chest rig. I havent had any issues yet with them falling apart or losing retention in the nylon that holds the shells.

Here's my idea of a shotgun setup that can all be had for about the same price of a Mesa tactical saddle.

That's actually really frickin' cool, man. Tactical velcro. I like it a lot.

Oh, crap, I totally forgot about the velcro thing.

That's what I'm gonna do.
