I bought this pistol new stock 6 years ago with the idea of slowly customizing it.  I had a good 1911 smith near where I lived in Iowa before I moved back to Colorado 3 years ago.  He did all the work.

I like it alot and it is cool what you can do with these things.

I have around 300 rounds through it mostly ball ammo with some wolf.  It has never jammed.  Accuracy wise I have never benched it but it shoots paper plates just fine at 30 yards.

Looks great.  Where in CO are you?  I can recommend a few good smiths for you in Loveland and Longmont if you're near there.

After seeing some others & yours, it's made me think about
doing the same cause the Mil-Spec doesn't have the front
serations which makes it a perfect canidate for such a project.
Years ago I liked the front serations but with age things change...
MAN...Do they change...lol

Looks really nice, did he do the fine tuning & all
the stuff we can't see? If so what? & how's it feel
as far as smoothness of the action & such?
Love the extended mag-wel, thats usually the
first thing I add if not equiped already.

That really add's to the looks IMO & makes it look..
tricked & custom & adds a useable function other than
just vanity:) & looking like a poser.

Couple of last thing's, I know the light does funny things
to the shade's appearance & finish. It looks kinda like Champign
in color or is it an illusion & just beautiful ( my favorite) stainless?

The sights, I don't think those are Factory Springfield
sight's?

He fitted an oversized slide release with an oversized barrel link.  The coolest thing that I like was the outstanding job he did fitting the beavertail safety.  Other custom fit parts are the combat safety and the STI hammer.  I didn't want a too light trigger pull but I wanted it to break clean and he did it just as I wanted.  I can't remember who makes the trigger but it isn't factory.

As far as the sights, he fitted Bo-Mar adjustable on the slide.  I sometimes wish I had done Novaks though.  He recrowned the barrel.

He didn't do any work with the slide to the frame.  I didnt want it too tight and liked it the way it was.  Between the fitted link, slide release, and recrowned barrel, it is way more accurate than I am.

As far as the finish, it is just brushed stainless.  The picture makes it look different.
