My Colt 1991A1.

I've had it for about a decade. It came to me pretty much new in box and has been lightly customized by Jim Milks when he worked at EGW. This is definitely a malaise era Colt. The machine work on the inside is not that great and the safety notch on the slide is flat out ugly. 5 years ago I replaced the slide stop because the OEM Colt started to fail to engage the follower on anything but a GI magazine. I foolishly used an STI stop that was so poorly finished it scratched the hell out of the frame underneath it. Polished the underside of the stop by hand and now it works. I recently replaced the Colt OE mag catch as was no longer holding magazines high enough in the magazine well to full engage the slide stop. The OE plunger tube was also replaced when it came loose. Function wise it's been a great gun. Eventually it'll go back to Innovative Custom Guns for sights and a refinish.

New family photo, only one missing is my avatar, didn't feel like digging it out to take to the desert. 1978 Colt Series 70 that I've had since '90. Range Officer 9mm and Range Officer Champion in 9mm. Was nice shooting the Colt, its my goto home defense everything gun and I don't shoot it often, shot like an old comfortable friend.

Picked up my first 1911 yesterday, a colt M45a1. Took it to the range today for it's first 200 rounds. What a joy to shoot, glad I ponied up and bought one of these!

What make and model front sight did you use there?

I just got a new XSE and want to install some 10-8 sights but 10-8 says their front sights
won't fit Colt's dovetail.

I want the 10-8 rear and a brass bead front.

Jim Garthwaite installed his custom rent sight with gold bead and 10-8 rear. He did all the work on the gun. Was a Series 70 repro.

Quick video of me running a mag through my M45A1. I'm new to pistols, but I've got just shy of 1k rounds through this pistol so far. Super fun to shoot.
