[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Red dot on a small 1911?

Gf bought a 22/45. I put a cheap little red dot on it for her and she loves it. Now she's wanting to put one on her kimber ultra carry II or her STI Electra.. What's needed to make that happen? I read somewhere about base plates that replace the rear sights. Is that an option? If so where would I find these? Or is my only option to have the slide milled down? Thx for any input..

I know Trijicon makes one. Just not sure what guns it fits.
