The CDP Pro Carry.  Go with the HD if you don't mind the weight.

I've got the Ultra Elite, predecessor of the smallest of the new CDP pistols. It's a great carry gun--three inch barrel, meltdown treatment, tritium sights, all in a 25 oz. package. The double springs really tame the recoil and the gun is pleasant to shoot at the range for hours at a time. Lots of good carry holsters available, including a new one from Fobus. Only holds eight rounds, but if you hit what you're aiming at, you shouldn't need more than that from a .45

Thanks, I got a stainless pro carry sle. I like it so far even though i've only had time put one box through it.

I LOVE my pro carry sle.  Just plain feels good to shoot.  Next week I'm gonna get a custom eclipse II.  Full size, adjustable night sites, match everything.  Don't want to do it, I have to do it.

I have decided that my next pistol will be a .45 Kimber.  I don't know if I want a carry, or a full size, but that aside, do you fellas really feel safe carrying cocked and locked especially in a Fobus?  I personaly would feel safer with a Sig with one in the pipe and hammer down.  Don't get me wrong I love the 1911 style, but I would be more nervous with one than a Sig.  Any input on this?

Check that your 1911 is unloaded, then cock the hammer and put on the safety.  Wear it around the house, knock it about a bit, see if you can get that safety to come off.  I bet it doesn't.  If you can't get the safety to come off then you are A-OK.  People carry Glocks and Sigs all the time with no safety but a long/heavy trigger pull.  Especially in a holster with the trigger covered and the presence of a grip safety, even if it came of safe it is EXTREMELY unlikely to fire.  If you are worried about it popping out of the FOBUS get a holster with a thumbstrap.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I know that I have posted this several times, but avoid the Kimber Polymer models.  You will thank me for the advice.
