Or will it ever make it to the civilian market.  I am talking about the one that has an ambidexterous slide release and the (semi-)single stack magazines.  As I remember, it also had a threaded barrel.  When I shot it, I was told that they were just going to call it the HK .45.
Please educate me.

That gun is a serious contender for the next US sidearm. It looks like a bigger P2000.

I bet it will not be released untill they have fully refined the design to meet all the requirements of the solicitation.

I shot it while I was on spring break.  I was at Ft. Benning, GA and the HK guys were demo-ing some stuff.  The one I shot had a suppressor attached.  It was a great gun, I really want one.

I also shot the HK 416 while I was there.

That's cool that you got to shoot it. How many rounds did the semi staggered magazine hold? Is there a version similar to the V1 USP?

Great photos!  Dont know what HK was thinking when doing the frame coloring.  Here's a photoshop fix.

Yeah, the frame coloring is screwy.  I showed my g/f the photo and she liked the frame color.  I think it looks like baby shit.

I am sure the picture of a picture doesn't accurately represent the frame color, but make mine black and I will get both the HK 45c and the full sized.

Is the trigger going to be steel this time, instead of the mushy plastic ones on USP's?

The HK45/HK45C is supposed to be released to the public late this year or early '07. It can be configured in any of the set-ups of the current USP (LEM, conventional DA, Decocker, etc.) It will be available in the tan in the photos and Black. Those are pics I posted on a different forum taken from the new Shotgun news cover. It has a test of both pistols (HK45 & HK45C). 10rd. mags for the fullsize, 8rd. mags for the compact.

Nick,

What is the cover date on that issue of SGN?  I looked at the one at the store (April 10th cover date) and it didn't have this cover.

Jason

To whom it may concern at HK,

Put me down for 2 of each please!  h
Thanks.

No worries! Any configuration you can have on your current USP's, you will be able to have on the HK45 as well.

So these pistols are epected to be out sometime this year?  Perhaps they may be out with the P2000FS (FS=FullSize) errr... I mean P30.

does anyone know if the decocker will be on the back, p2000-style?

and i'd actually prefer it with NO slide release, left or right handed.  everyone can slingshot, and the less "stuff" hanging off the slide the simpler and better.

I like the slide release when i grip a gun with my non-dominate hand i hit the release with my thumb.

I am liking the compact model cant wait to fondle one.

SCHWING!!!!

Give me one in solid black in Variant 1 configuration.

Dark Earth naturally blends with most any surrounding, and is alot less reflective than black. I'm old fashioned though, so I'll take black.

I'm also hoping they bring the P3000 over here too as I wouldn't mind having a compact crammed full of 9mm for carry. Hopefully they offer them with external safeties in Variant 1, and a traditional decocking mechanism.

Only 10/8 rd mags?  The military contract calls for high capacity firearms so if this is the HK entry something will have to be modified.

The Military solicitation calls for a 10 round magazine that sits fluch with the frame.

The May issue of Shotgun News.

A guy on HKPro posted some scans and I gotta say it's pretty sweet.  This picture is my favorite.

The 10 round full size mags will fit in the compacts. A spacer will be available to fill the magwell gap if needed. Both models will be available with extended and threaded barrels, both being O-ringed.

Pull that manual safety off there, put it in LEM, make it black, and that will rocket to the top of the "next gun" list when it is released.

I have yet to be able to find this issue in my neck of the woods.

Is there an HK trigger varient that can be used cocked and locked and has NO decocker?  Variant 9 and 10 maybe?

I shoot 1911s with my strong hand thumb riding the "gas pedal".  I can see myself accidently decocking during firing OR running the gun with low thumbs and accidently bumping on the safety.

I am a 1911 guy myself but in the 1000 rounds i have put down range with my USP (lots of hammer cocked safety on drawing from the holster) i have yet to decock it on accident and my thumb always rides on the safety (1911 grip)

I just used a friends .45 USPF V1 and had it decocked on me during recoil about 3-5 times, using a thumbs forward, riding the safety.  Same thing happen with my dad's USPF 9mm V1.

+1 on both statements.  Looks to me like the bottom one is a good candidate for C&L...appears to be DA/SA.

Do it longer.  It will happen.

A fellow ARFCOM member did this with one of my USPs before I converted it to a variant 9.  Actually, it was worse than decocking it, because he rode the control lever down just enough to render the pistol completely useless, but not enough to actually decock it.

Which brings me to my real point: Convert to a v9 and it's a complete non issue.  I don't know why anybody would use the USP DA/SA -- if you ask me, it's only in its element as a v9 c&l.
