Nothing. They're both expensive gimmicks

This is the correct answer.
You'd be better served buying a trusted brand of JHP's (HST or Gold Dot).

You need to give more context to your question...

Liberty Civil Defense: (pieces break off shallow, and the base goes deeper ... they say 12 in but it seems to do about 11)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0EVjsX6G98
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymq6KXOm1_8

Corbon Glaser: (bird shot in a handgun bullet, penetrates 5.5-8in usually)
http://www.luckygunner.com/9mm-p-80-grain-pre-fragmented-hollow-point-glaser-blue-safety-6-rounds#geltest

For context you could carry these:

Corgon DPX: penetrates 12-13 inches, expands to .86
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaEoF31mr58

Federal HST: penetrates 13in, expands to .66
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNRqrJRq4T0

If I had to choose one or the other I'd probably carry the glasers since they sort of have a street record, but I'd definitely prefer to carry a standard bullet like DPX, HST, Gold Dot or Ranger T.

ok...I'm a little familiar with the glazer was wondering if the liberty stuff was similar construction...

For what it's worth one of our homicide detectives said the liberty ammo is pretty devestating

Ah, yeah the glaser has a different construction as it's filled with little bbs: https://www.corbon.com/glaser-safety-slug.html

The liberty bullet is a solid copper round that fragments: http://libertyammunition.com/product/civil-defense-9mm

The liberty goes very fast, so there's a chance it will go through soft body armor when some of the standard JHPs will not. As with any round it would depend on the brand of vest.

I'm sure it makes a really nasty wound, just most of the explosion of shrapenel seems to go less than 4in in gel, so especially if clothing is involved that seems like it will make a very gruesome shallow wound. Of course, depends where you hit the bad guy, I'm sure this or a glaser to a lung would be horrible. I'd hate to get hit by it.

Both are certainly very interesting rounds and I love seeing people test them.

The Glazer is just unadulterated crap. The ultimate gimmick round with abysmal penetration.

The Liberty isn't any better. Was given a box of 40 S&W and when testing, I had one fly apart in flight and pepper the target.
Two others key-holed, I was not impressed.

That's insane it actually expanded in the air before hitting the target lol.

Abysmal penetration is their entire selling point.  It's a feature, not a bug.

iirc, the whole point was reduced penetration.  I think there was a Glazer Silver that increases penetration

The whole idea of the glaser is indeed reduced penetration. When I lived in a townhouse I loaded then for home defense. I liked my neighbors.

From what I've read and seen it seems the safety features of this bullet are inconsistent.

Here are some tests of it going through drywall, or penetrating more after passing through drywall.

The reason I am not a big fan of this is if you hit the bad guy center mass with a quality hollowpoint, the danger to bystanders will  be very low. Another reason is if you have very good shot placement, using the glaser safety slug will almost guarantee the spine will not be reached.

Anything that will reliably penatrate enough to reach the vitals will go through thin walls. Anything a wall can stop is a waste.

I'm curious about the street record of the glaser. I recall they did well in the Strasburg tests along with Magsafes.

I just remember reading them many moons ago and not hearing any more about them. Just got lost in history
Still would like to know about any street record though. There must be something floating around.
