Same. That’s why I bought the Spec kit and swapped the barrels and kept the 23-round magazines and then sold the incomplete kit for what I bought my regular optics ready 4” compact.

My only M&P that shoot good enough to conceal carry.

The Compact (haha, choppng 1/4" off the barrel makes it a compact?) .45.  Slide is satin nickel because I don't like the shiny spots that wear through the melonite treatments.

My other M&P concealed carry guns.

The Shield was first (showed me there were M&Ps that shot good enough to suit me).  The Shield Plus was OR and 13+1 and I had to have it.  No group size disappointment with the Plus.

Then I saw a good deal on Shield 2.0 PC stripped slides and bought a couple.  After a few range trips the 4" modification is good to carry, too.  No harder to conceal and an extra 1" of barrel for a velocity increase as well as porting out on the end of the barrel.  Gonna put the 3.1" slide/optic on the old 1.0 Shield.

Noice!

I love the S&W grip texture.  It's like Velcro on the bare hand.

New addition to my stable, my first M&P. Came into the FFL I work at part time for a screaming deal right when I started looking for the 9mm version as a backup duty gun, and I couldn't help myself. Fitted an Apex 9mm barrel and a manual safety, and picked up some ACT-Mags first thing. Then temptation set in and I snagged a Holosun EPS and swapped on my WML from my other duty gun.

After putting a few hundred rounds through it to function test and zero, this thing is sweet. It snuck its way into the primary EDC/duty gun slot lol

The Part time FFL also recently got in a Competitor and I couldn't help but do a little bit of mix and match between them:

I gotta say, the metal frame is really tempting after seeing this.

My brother bought a Ruger Security .380 that holds 15+1, and it made me look at my old 8+1 original ported S&W PC 9 and decide it was time to upgrade to more capacity. Plus I found a good price on the Equalizer 15 round mags and have a couple of those coming for it. Considered an Equalizer but I like the looks and feel of this and my previous M&P PC better, and I already have holsters and a Streamlight light/laser from the old one that will fit it.

Stopped by my local shop and this was in the used case. Can’t explain why but I’ve wanted one for years.
This one doesn’t have the stupid loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide.

Might send it out for an optics cut at some point.

That's what I thought. After I asked you this I found an overhead picture of one and found the loaded chamber indicator.

I was ready to order one till I saw it. That's my whole reason for wanting an aftermarket barrel. Every one I can find has the lci. No idea why.

Barrel looks great. I've used them in several Glocks.

Mine has (had) an LCI, but getting it cut for an RMR runs into the channel where it sits so it has to be removed. I don't even notice the empty groove in the top of the slide anymore.

It's OEM and standard on all the optic ready pistols as of last year. Trigger on this is very good, not Apex good, but good. Has the typical striker block grit when new, but I'm 500 rounds deep so far and it's really smoothed out.

Replace the USB with an APEX USB for $40 and the trigger is 90% a full apex kit.

Been dragging my feet about posting these.

.40 S&W Shield Plus.

Attachment Attached File

.357 SIG Shield Plus.

Attachment Attached File

Been modifying (only 3 so far) 9MM Shield Plus mags to fit/feed .40 S&W.  So .357 SIG is working as well.  Doesn't take much to get them to work.  They shoot pretty darn good, so far.

Gonna have to get the .40 S&W slide milled for a red dot and rear back up sight and cerakoted.

Probably wait to buy another .40 slide for the .357 SIG barrel till later in the fall, or early winter.

Not many sub compact .357 SIGs around.

@M1A4ME

Very cool .357Sig project!
How many .40/.357 rounds are you getting in the S+ magazines?
Link Posted: 9/2/2023 2:57:00 PM EDT
[#40]
Takes some mods to the magazine and follower.  Can't load the rounds into the magazine without modifying it.  I tried two different mods to the followers before getting the first one right and then modified the second one differently.

The 10 round 9MM mag will hold 8.  The 13 round 9MM mag will hold 10 rounds of .40 or .357 SIG.

I've not yet modified a 15 round mag. and that's next.  I don't see any reason why it won't work fine as well.

Still testing, of course.  A couple range trips aren't enough to prove reliability.  Just testing accuracy, recoil feel and the mags are part of reliability.

This stuff is fun.  It's a small .40.  It may be a small .40 with a decent mag. capacity vs. most other sub compact .40's.

S&W might do it.  Then I won't have to modify more magazines.

My Competitor.

I had one of the original M&P's when they first came out. Love the ergonomics, they had the best in the polymer world but never cared for the trigger so I ended up selling it. Been looking at them off and on ever since but kept waiting. Saw the metal version which started to sell me and when I went to get one they had just come out with the competitor. Couldn't skip the opportunity to buy it and I couldn't be happier wtih it. Going to add an RMR and thinking of having the barrel ported by Floyd's Custom Shop.
