However, I'm not looking for personality, individuality, history, or soul.  I'm looking for a handgun that goes bang each and every time I pull the trigger.  Personality, individuality, history, and soul won't help you get through a defensive situation.  Unless of course the bad guy appreciates the personality, individuality, history, or soul of your 1911 and decides that you are too cool to mug

That is exactly why I collect 1911s but carry a Glock

That is a good plan!

The only weapon I carried was and is a Glock.

I dont need to try any others, when you shoot Glock you dont go back or try anything else.

When the parts are so cheap which you dont need because they dont wear or break.

When I am at the range and others have their sissy nickel plated stuff they usually ask,
hey is that a Glock ??

Then proceed with the normal questions, then I always offer then to shoot it..they come back with..
WOW that is smooth, I need to get one of those.

The combo light / laser by Streamlight is also priced considerably less then the cheaper models out
there now, plus I can mount this on my pic rails of my ARs.

Yes I love my Glock !!

The only thing wrong, well "wrong' isn't the best word.... Is that Glocks are kinda boring.
They all look the same.
They all function without nary a hiccup.
They all look the same.
They are so simple that they don't have any interesting quirks about them.
They all look the same.
Any 1911 has more "personality" than any Glock...

I agree, plus I didn't want a 'plastic'pistol, BUT after I got one I understood why people like them.
I had a g19 but traded it for a g30. I do like the .45 caliber for carry.

Well?  Do you?

I bought my glock a few weeks ago.

Just unloaded my P220 and P226.  They're going back to the main safe, not the immediate safe.  They're nice, they're well made.  But...they lack something.

So:  do you love you glock(s)??

Interesting...I did just the opposite.

Got the Sigs and threw away the Glocks,  No comparison

I have one of those that I've shot quite a bit.

An no, that not my entire 1911 collection

This is kind of off post but, where there's WWII era M1911A1's, there's M1 Garand rifles...right Steve?

Let us suppose I do, indeed, love my stock model G19.

How ought I express my love?

Separate slide from frame, clean barrel w/ bronze brush, solvent, patches on a brass jag and finish w/ a lightly oiled patch; clean the frame w/ compressed air or a light solvent?

Leave a light coat of oil or silicone on all exposed metal surfaces?

Buy a quality holster instead of carring in my waistband?

???

I love my Glock 37 with a Streamlight M3-X and Trijicon sights. Shot it in the dark for the first time last weekend and it was impressive and fun. Glocks are truely elite. hug.gif

I'll likely get flamed  but I can't get that enthused with Glocks.  I always recommend them
to new shooters and I have owned several over the years but I  prefer my Sigs and 1911s
for most shooting.  The grip angle is just not right  for me although that was corrected for me with
a Robar grip reduction on one Glock I owned.  But they are just too expensive to do on a large number of guns.  Otherwise they are great shooting guns-they are just not right for me.

At the moment, no. It all started about a month and a half ago when the frame cracked near the left frame rail. There is a thread here that I started on that subject. Glock replaced the frame with a new 3rd Generation frame and I thought I was good to go. After putting about fifty rounds through it I noticed the locking block pin was missing. It had broken in half, with part of it falling out and the other half staying in. Fine, I'll get a replacement. However, I did not know Glock was so anal about sending out parts. You have to go through a certified Glock armorer. Great. I manage to get the part through a local dealer. Everything's cool now, right? No.

Apparently when the locking block pin broke it also broke the slide stop spring. I did not notice this at first. I noticed the end of the spring was a little shorter than it should be and was sticking out awkwardly. When I tried to put it back where it should go it would not, because it is now too short. Now the slide stop sticks up and will not go down because the spring is not holding it down as it should be. I shoved the thing into its plastic case and threw it in the closet.

I've had that Glock since '96 and it's had less than 2,000 rounds through it. I really miss that 2nd Generation frame also. After all these years of carrying it my Glock with the older frame just "felt" right to me. I really don't like the 3rd Gen. frame. I have a Glock 19 with that frame and I love the gun, but it just doesn't feel the same. Now I am carrying my Sig P228 and may just dump the 23 altogether. I still would rather carry a .40, so a Sig P229 may be in my future.

Damn dude, sorry to hear about your problems

Why not just send the whole thing back to Glock and tell them to make it right?  More than likely they will go throught the whole thing to ensure it's good to go.  Tell them to throw in some new mags to cover your shipping as well.

If you're interested I saw a used Gen2 G23 at my local dealer today.  If you'd like their contact info IM me.

Hmmm, yeah the thing lacking from the Sigs is a blocky plastic handle.  Don't get me wrong,  I have had my G19 for 8 years and fired 1000's of rounds but the Sig 226, and HK USP win.

I love six of mine, but I've decided that one (my G30) has got to go.

I have tried to become comfortable with it, but just do not shoot it as well as my others.  (I have a G19 (my primary carry-gun for 10+ years now), 2 G17s, 2 G21s, and my newest, a G34 )

It is probably a function of my hand size/shape - I thought I could overcome it, but after repeated attempts I do not shoot it well & I've decided it simply is not going to feel comfortable/natural to me...

Without a doubt in my mind I know that my Glock will "run" when I want and need it to!
I have owned a G23, G27, and was issued a G22. I currently only have a G19 and a G21C, but they fill every nitch that I need.
I too thought that they were "ugly" initially until I got to shoot a friend's and he taught me how to index the trigger. That first 15 round rip convinced me that I needed one!

I started out with Sig's, H&K's,S&W's figuring I had the cream of the crop. Well the bug finally hit! The first one was a visually beat up G26 which shoots great. Next was a G34 which is beautiful to look at and shoot. Finally I bought a G30 which is just as good as her sibling's. So yes I do love my Glock's and plan on getting more. Looking at purchasing a G21 and a G19 to finish up my Glock collection, (unless they come up with a Full size .45).

The Glock 21 IS the full size .45
