Post em if you have em. Your own suppressors and .mil welcome

In late 2023 the green rattle can came out, and I won't lie - I love it
Tig-IR + 1P78 Kashtan on the 105 and a Skeet-IR X on the Arsenal in front of the Browe
Larue Tranquillo on the Tiger, Vox K on the 105 and Sandman K on the Arsenal

This was from a while ago but I think I have more AKs suppresssed now than I did then. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't suppress AKs. You definitely can, but it's trickier, and not all of them can be suppressed. Most of them can however. Just be careful, do your research and triple test and triple check everything

2022:
Scored an AK12 and am only beginning the testing but its off to a good start. In 2023 I actually have an approved Form 1 for an AK12K SBR, so we'll see how that goes

2023: The KR9 is been a solid varmint gun. I switch between the Eotech and the Novus Vzor-1 red dot clone (MDS-3), and the actual Vzor-1 you see in the lower right

MDS-3 red dot, Wilcox clip on thermal mount in front, Omega 9K and a Klesch 2 IR on the KR9
Rugged Micro and some white light version of Klesch on the ZenitCo AKSU

Vzor-1 and the Skeet or Voodoo S actually work believe it or not. It would be better to have a magnifier, but due to the low recoil of the KR9 I won't get scope eye being pushed in a little close. Since this is a varmint gun and not a CQB rifle to protect against Antifa, I can accept slightly trickier ergonomics or sight picture than I would with my personal defense rifles

Updated 2021:
AK105 with Perst 3, ZenitCo B33 top cover, B10u lower HG and Ultimak gas tube rail, with modified ModButton pressure switch for Perst 3. Also lucked into an AK74M3 modernized buttstock and PG

KUSA KR-9 with OKP-7 optic, Perst 3 and Ghost-M in short configuration

AK105 with Sandman K + E-Brake, ZenitCo Perst 2 laser, Skeet-IR and Kashtan 2.8x

With TigIR clip on thermal and Vox S suppressor

Sandman K with PEQ15 and Browe BTO optic

Repainted the Browe and an AK12 mag with a new style of 'Syrian' camo I'm experimenting with

With Vzor-1 red dot

Sandman K with DBAL A4

My back window doubles as my hunting blind

Griffin M4SDK modified to Dead Air KeyMo mount by ECCO Machining

2024 RPK74M ZenitCo goodness
It's true, Kashtan is in fact my favorite Russian optic closely followed by the 1P87 and Obzor, but unfortunately Obzor isn't compatible with clip on thermal optics
Kashtan is very similar to an ACOG in function and use, but definitely not a clone

Sandman K, 762SDN-6, SOCOM762, Wolverine

SOCCOM 762

AK103 with Obzor and Rugged Micro 30

Sandman K

Griffin M4SD-K (bottom) and Mini 4 (top)

Dead Air PBS-1 Wolverine with 1P63 Obzor

Browe BTO-RS with Wolverine

SGL31 with ZenitCo B10M+B33 topcover, DBAL A3 and Kashtan 1P with AAC Mini 4 5.56

Old style AKM

Modern AK103

Auzie's RPK74

1PN51

With TA31GH and TNVC PVS14. This was an old config I fooled around with in the early days. It works but you have to leave the PVS14 attached or the zero will obviously shift without it

AAC 51T Brakeout 2 with Griffin 24x1.5 adapter

With NPZ PN22K Gen 3 Day/Night

Mini 4

PBS-1

SOCOM 7.62 RC and 1P63 Obzor

1PN93

AKSU with ZenitCo B11 Handguard. This is a tight little package and very handy. Holosun does not interfere with 1PN93

View of the Kashtan reticule through the Tig. Say what you want about Russian optics not being designed to work with night vision or thermal, but for me a number of the more modern ones like Kashtan and 1P87 have been remarkably effective, and oddly have the same height as western optics

5.45x39 gets it done BTW
I've sent hundreds of hogs to swine valhalla over the years with simple 7N6 and even Hornady Black. Like any caliber good shot placement is important for DRT hits like in this photo, but two or three random hits on a hog running after the sounder busts will usually put them down. I've never seen hogs call for evac or pop an IFAIK, so you can be reasonably sure if they do happen to run off they won't be coming back

@tex-zen what did it take to get the tranquillo brake on the commie threads?
The Larue tranquillo suppressor is what I want to put on it.

On the Tiger it just needed a Griffin thread adaptor to go from 24x1.5 to 5/8x24 and some work on the muzzle face to be sure everything was concentric

On the FEYG they already had a cheesey 5/8x24 sleeve on the barrel for suppressors
Link Posted: 9/19/2021 7:31:06 PM EDT
[#2]
Interesting, does the sleeve screw on to the threads like a bushing?
Link Posted: 9/20/2021 8:16:13 AM EDT
[#3]
No, it uses the FSB pins

FEG didn't do a great job with the part either, it's clearly temporary and not well made. Probably done this way under the assumption that everyone would swap to a classic FSB, but they also told everyone it was suppressor ready, and it isn't, not really

Thanks for the photo to illustrate.
I'll find a better solution than that.

Who knew that a 9mm PCC AK was such a riot?

I'd be interested in hearing about the Wolfman when you get it. I have the Wolf 9SD and am really happy with it, but I've heard the Wolfman is way better

waiting on my Nomad 30 to get out of jail :D
what is your guys "perfect" barrel length for a suppressed AK?
I'm going to try my first on a 10.5" Barrel,M24x1.5, J-MAC x-37 Brake/Adapter, KNS piston. Any tips would be much appreciated!

The underfolder Npap isn't mine.  I had the wood refinished on it at the same time as my Zpap for my buddy as part of his Xmas gift.  A guy named AK Shine did the refinish on both and they came out killer looking. The tiger stripes on mine really pop now in the right light.  My buddy wanted classic Russian red and it looks far better than the previous owners shitty attempt at spray painting it.

Got the Jmac 2 port brake out front on the M70 to run keymo equipped cans.  For now using my Sandman K and ebrake.  I also installed the KNS adjustable piston.  I wish I had more of the Brown Bear subs given the current state of world affairs....... They sound almost like my 300 blk AR pistol with the Sandman K.  The AK action being just a bit clunkier still doesn't sound too bad although I found I'm pretty much backing off the KNS piston practically all the way for reliable function with the subs.  With typical 7.62x39 supers the KNS piston about halfway seems to be the sweet spot.  Overall I'm happy with the way my Zastava turned out.  I was just super thankful it was concentric.

Really gassing now for a 5.56 AK patterned gun to also suppress.  Or maybe a 9mm like the KP9.

Now that my zpap92 SBR underfolder conversion has been completed this gun is much more capable with the suppressor. The stock is rock solid allowing consistant accurate shots at longer distances with the Wolverine. I am still using the factory piston is it neccesary to put in a KNS piston? So far it cycles subs/supers perfectly.

Mine is very similar and I notice that is very gassy with supers. I put a KNS piston in mine, but haven't had a chance to tune it yet. I'm expecting it to make a huge difference.

@jdmdavey

I prefer the 12" AK105 with a full length can and FH for hunting pigs or as my go to rifle, or a fullsize 74 with a K can unless my buddies bitch too much about me being a half-savage not totally suppressed shooter

8" is fantastic on the AKSU or KR9/Vityaz style PCC plus the pistol cans are so much lighter for the 9mm PCCs

I’d personally say it’s highly recommended in terms of reduced parts wear and just making the gun more comfortable to shoot. Only had one AK that wouldn’t function reliably without one. All the others I’ve tried my Wolverine on would cycle and function fine with a stock piston, but it did seem like it was running the action faster and harder.

Has anyone installed the KNS piston in a Saiga 7.62x39? I noticed that my gas piston length is shorter than a standard AKM, but that a standard AKM bolt group will fit. Trying to decide which one to get.

Make sure to measure your current piston and then you will be able to pick the correct one based on size.

I know this isn't exactly the thread for it, but since so many seem to be running night vision...

I just tried a few things out on my Saiga suppressed SBR. I put a TA33 ACOG on the zenitco topcover. Definitely have a chin weld, but it isn't too bad. I was planning on a the 3x24 instead to get a lower height over bore, but am reconsidering that. Another consideration, I just pulled the DBAL A3 from my home defense SBR and put it on the right side of the AK. Obviously I'd prefer to top mount it, and use my TAPS switch, but this isn't possible without committing to AR height optics. Is it "worth it" to go AR height? I am using an AK100 style stock from KVAR. I'm curious if what y'all think, since so many of you seem to be using AR height optics.

Zastava, MI rail, Silencerco Omega, KNS piston installed. Freaking love this set up. Everyone said it would be difficult,  and that baffle strikes were a concern.  Everything went together well. Only complaint is that it's a little gassy to the face, but I haven't got the piston tuned yet either. If I can get a sweet spot I'll be stoked big time. And adding NV IR light/Lazer capability.

Cheek weld is overrated IMO and with even a modest amount of trigger time behind an AK a chin weld is workable. If you shoot passive with an AR you tend to get a chin weld anyway, and when I started shooting passive with ARs I realized once again I'm pretty happy I've been used to chin welds and AKs all these years

I use ACOGs on several of my AKs with a chin weld, ACOGs can and do work great
