Posted today, I'm really excited to find out more.  Hopefully we'll get details at SHOT.  Would be fantastic if it took Glock mags with the new pmags coming out!

I seriously hope it doesn't take glock mags, or any other pistol mag.

I doubt very much that it will take glock mags but i'm keen to see more info on it

Curious to know why not.  I think MP5 mags were discussed on another forum but those are $50-$75 a pop for anything decent.

They just look goofy as all hell in a carbine.  Just personal preference.

I also hate the angle of them when going into a magwell that isn't built into the grip (like a pistol).  It is just awkward and unnatural feeling.

I would prefer MP5 mags or the Colt pattern 9mm AR mags.  Or even Uzi mags.  Or sit on them a bit longer and wait for the Scorpion Evo 3 pistol and design them to use those mags (supposed to be about $20).

I'm looking to buy a 9mm carbine in the next few months.  It's either an MP5 clone, 9mm AR, 9mm AK, or a Scorpion Evo 3.

It is, Atlantic confirmed this in their Instrgram account.

Now they need to make one in 7.62x25 and uses PPSH mags...

Or I'd take something in .357 Sig... anyone have any data on it out of a longer barrel?

There is another 9mm AK coming out that uses MP5 magazines.

Should be a fun time at SHOT seeing all the new goodies.

I don't think so, it's been in development a long time...I thought I read about MP5 mags being considered awhile back.  Colt style mags work for me though, just a little put out by what I've heard about the hit or miss quality of the more affordable offerings.  This will be my first sub-carbine.

Edit: Atlantic beat me to it, good news!

There is indeed a 9mm AK being made by another company that will take MP5 mags in addition to the one that Atlantic is making which takes Colt 9mm mags .  Two different products by two different companies.

Sorry!  Read your post as a question, didn't know about the other 9mm AK.  I guess some Googling is in order.  Either way, I don't own an MP5 for commonality so $50-$75 a mag for HK is a no go for me personally.  Now Scorpion EVO commonality....

Could have used sterling mags too.
Not too terribly expensive and very reliable.

x1000000000000

I can never figure out why people want pistol mags for that very reason. Give me Colt pattern or some subgun mag.

Yes they take the Colt Style mags we have been testing them with the ASC brand & they have worked very well , priced around $18 -$20 bucks.

I'm gonna be curious to see if this 9mm AK runs reliably with Metalform 9mm Colt style mags as well since I have a stockpile of them for my 9mm AR. i think they made the right call on mag choices, ASC 30 round mags are the cheapest and easiest to find option. If you gotta have a PCC that takes Glock mags there are plenty of other choices out there. As for blowback operation, that's still the simplest and most reliable setup for running cheap dirty pistol ammo. That's what I'd want in a 9mm AK. $900 is on the high end of pistol carbines, hopefully the actual selling price will be less.

Haha, $900 is on the high end? Have you seen the SIG mpx and pof mp5 clones at $1800?
People are snapping up CZ skorpion evos for $8-900

You're right about that, I was thinking of the mass production PCCs like Hi Point, Kel Tec, Beretta Storm and the ARs and AR clones like JRC & TNW. Rifles that are purchased not because they'd primarily make a good supressor host or can be easily SBR'd but because they shoot the same ammo or take the same mags as your pistol. Y'know, for us cheapskates.

Hopedully they can keep it around the $1k range. I'd pay a little more if they get good reviews and come with a reasonable pitch on muzzle.

Remember this is not GD.

Sorry.

Seriously though, what's wrong with a blow back 9mm?

Seems like making it locked breech would just be over complicating things. Could be wrong though, I'm certainly no expert.

I really want to hear because I'm leaning towards getting one of these.

I have never owned a blow back operated rifle, although from my understanding is that if you have underpowered ammo it wont cycle... ?
I have been looking at the keltec sub2000 in 9mm to buy since gen 2 will have a threaded barrell for 9mm suppressor... And I agree unless this ak is much better than a sub2000 or a hi point I don't see the advantages. Although to be fair we haven't even seen a picture!! Also the hi point and sub2000 are ugly little beasts.
