The reason for asking is that I like to have more than one of each rifle rifle I own. If I am going to spend the time to learn the rifle, buy ammo, buy mags, and buy spare parts, I want a backup for that rifle. Does anyone else think like this.
How many AKs do you have and why? |
I usually try to have one bolt action rifle as a back up for each semi-auto I have.
I have 2 ak 47, & 2 ak74. I have a new MAK90, & a WASR 10/63. As for ak74 have a WASR-2 completely redone, & a ORF Bulgarian ak74.
I have a variety of weapons, but so far I only have 1 AK. Im currently searching for a nice under folder or maybe even a pistol AK. I like the big power in a small package idea.
None !
I have a SAR-1 and a MAK-90 I always try to have two or more of everything. |
I currently own 8, two romanians, 2 polish underfolders, 2 bulgy ak74's and a tantal, all personal builds
And one polytech underfolder (the safe queen) |
WASR 10/63
SAR-1 Norinco 56S Mitchell M90 Yugo SA-85M (post ban) SLR-95 (paid for and on the way ) |
SLR105A1 SLR107UR Saiga 7.62x39 5.45 Krink build May get an SGL20 and sell the Saiga, will definately get another 5.45 if Arsenal drops them on the market this year. Z |
0 right now.
Waiting on an AK74 and Krinkov, but I guess my answer would still be 0. |

2 bulg 74's 1 bulg krink 74u 1 romi aims 74 1 yugo m70 UF 1 yugo m70 stocked i think thats it at this time. Looking to convert saiga 223 and 7.62, but who knows. Need to get back to my ar projects at some time. thanks |
Ummm... Several. All AKM-47s. (triangle side-folder, underfolder, pre-ban Norinco, etc...)
One...just it case I'm 'collecting' ammo from a former problem that had one, as well.
I have two Saiga AK-103 conversions done by Chris Butler. They were not cheap. But, they sure are nice.
Arsenal SLR-106F
Polytech AKS-762 Double Underfolder AK-74 Clone (Saiga .223) Polish Tantal (Poly Furniture) Polish Tantal (Bakelite Furniture) Polish Tantal (Fixed stock AK-74 clone) Romanian PSL (A stretched AK) Romanian WASR-10/63 (The kick around rifle) Had a few Romy G's that I built in the past but either traded them out or sold them. I regret that now. |

I own four, a WASR, Tantal, Yugo underfolder, and a 106F.
I want more |

I had these until the tragic boating accident and they were all lost. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/CarlosC/Guns/Rifles/DSC00712withnames.jpg Ugh! I still need a solid stock spiker to further complete my desired collection! Nice collection! |
Mine too were all lost at sea recently, unbeliveable!
Polytech fact 416 spiker, Tantal, Intrac MKII and Romak-1......tragic loss of weapons...tragic. |

I have 8 plus 1 RPK.
Although more expensive, spare rifles are more fun than spare parts. |
14 -
Vector milled Bulgarian, Gordon Tech milled bulgarian, Vector Yugo underfolder, Vector Yugo fixed stock, Polytech AKS 762. Chinese Ling Hua, Vector Polish fixed stock, Vector Polish underfolder, Vector East German, Milled Mak90 Arsenal SLG20 Romanian GP1975 Yugo RPK, Czech VZ58 All lost in a tragic boating accident. |
19 plus a kit waiting to be built.
All lost in a tragic boating accident. Now magazines and ammo, I could definitely use more of. |

I'm probably going to look like a retard but whats with the "tragic boating accident" reference?

I'm probably going to look like a retard but whats with the "tragic boating accident" reference? Some unfortunate (former) gun owners lost all their firearms when their boat sank. Thus, if it came time to turn the firearms in, they could not do so. |

I'm probably going to look like a retard but whats with the "tragic boating accident" reference? Not a retard, you just don't know. It's sort of an inside joke among gun enthusiasts referring to a possible future encounter with the Feds when they come to confiscate your weapons. At that time, our answers would be, "Sorry, I don't own any guns, the ones I had were lost in a boating accident or sold at a gun show." Obviously, we really do have them. Get it? |

Your question will get mostly tongue in cheek answers, think about it, " How many AK's do you own and why"? Ask that of owners in your own state (California) and you will not get any answers. Firearm owners are very discrete about their collections and although they eager to talk about country correctness and problem solving they do not want to open their collections to the scrutiny of any oversight group or criminal elements (many that have sold on the equipment exchange have released personnel information). |
Let's see...
Just put it this way...More than 10 less than 50... Because I can! |
I had 6 until I sold them off to fund a few other things. I did keep my Yugo Krink and Norinco UF so I still have those two. I also have a Bulgarian side folder 74.
So I guess three! |
I have decided that, with only two AKs, I am an underachiever. I need to do better.

Just one. I recently started my AK collection. I will get more over time. I picked a hell of a time to get into AK's because of the crazy prices. But oh well. It's just money right.
