It attaches to rear sight -- goes over cover and attaches to upper stock screw...
Have you used one or know someone that has. Can the rifle be serviced W/O removal ? Or should it have to be removed, does the optic hold Zero ? Thanks |
Krebs has one. I think they are still out of stock but should have more soon. They run about $300.
I thought those fit Saiga's only, or can we use it on other akm |
YEP $49.99 and weapon can be stripped W/O removal, I'm told. www.stubbygear.com/product.asp?productid=422718 Thanks |
Good Call!! I was waiting on that one for $275 I just ordered that one, its on the way. |
Let me know what ya think of it and if the gun is stripable when attached? I can't order for a couple of weeks....thanks |
You got it, i will save this thread and post results. Fedex shipping, so im expecting pretty fast.
I dont think it is the same because the DPH one is for Saigas. I'm crossing my fingers on this one
Finally i know what was in the BOX |
I believe that mount look acceptable on an AK... |
He doesn't have a mag in it, not too dangerous Besides Krebs, it there a Beryl mount where i don't have to unscrew something to pivot it up? |
[Speaking to Pault] That, sir, is not an AK. That is a Beryl and is far superior to any AKM/AK74 out there 'cept for the Tantal which it is on equal terms with. |
Sorry Mak, but every time i looked it up i would get this 1 , 2 Then i found this Link I'm hoping the mount i bought does the JOB. Because i know that this CRAP wont work, thats from experience. |
Mildly interested in this myself, looking forward to a review and some pics. |
I was told the StubbyGear mount is at close mil spec. to the Beryl
No its not mounted on a Saiga, that is actually my first build. A Romy G kit, I made into my closest version of a Polish Beryl. Any questions let me know. Here are some more pics. |
Unless there is some kind of lever at the back of the $49 mount, I don't see how you could possibly get the dustcover off without using tools (taking the rail off).
Maybe I'm slow. |
I have to agree with you, and others. There is no way of removing the cover W/O removing the mount from what I can see.....But that is what they state ! |
Its been a week and no mount yet. I was wondering the same thing about the field dressing. Nice build btw
With the model that I got from DPH I have to use a allen wrench to remove the bolt that hold the mount on the rear trunnion. It sucks, but so far I haven't lost zero. Scott @ DPH Arms told me they are going to reveal a newer model, hopefully this is something they addressed. |

Will this http://www.stubbygear.com/product.asp?productid=422718 mount fit a WASR10. If so... has anyone had experience with it???

2 weeks and No Mount I ordered an Ultimak the same day for my Vector and it arrived in 3 days.......................................................
Well Fellas, i just canceled my order for the mount. I will say this, StubbyGear has great cust service.
They told me that this is back ordered from Germany and may or may not come in for another 2 weeks. They refunded my paypal without a problem. Very nice people to deal with. I was put on an email list for the item and will be notified as soon as they are in stock. |
Backordered from Germany ????
Maybe the mount is of decent Quality..... |
I was thinking the same thing, i forgot the German Company's name |
I would like to say YES, but im not 100%. I have heard of their forearm mounts come to think of it, but not there dust covers. O well, it will be another few weeks |
what rear BUIS would work with this? It would be nice to have working irons with a longer sight plane.
my question as well |
Quoted:
Would it be Brugger & Thomet? I would like to say YES, but im not 100%. I have heard of their forearm mounts come to think of it, but not there dust covers. O well, it will be another few weeks I seriously doubt that the company is Brugger & Thomet for three reasons: (1) B & T is Swiss company while the product under discussion is German. (2) B & T makes high end and expensive(!) products while this scope rail is on the low end. I have a Krebs scope rail on my AK, and a B & T unit would be closer to this in terms of quality and price. (3) I have actually seen the web site for the company that makes this product and it has a name like "Rathburn" and refers folks to stubbygear for retail sales. |
I just a asked a similar question in a thread i started. I have a full rail like this one on my AK pistol. What rear back up sight would line up with the front sight post on an AK?
ordered rail from stubby gear. Wait was a tad long. But, it did arrive and I mounted it on a MAK90
It is really cool. Holds zero, flips up for cleaning/maintenance. I just don't have BUIS. |
Very nice build. How did you do the folding stock? It looks like an ACE, but the mechanism looks like it's flush mounted up under the tang. What parts did you use? |
it's far less superior than the dph one that is only $20 more. go with dph. scott is good people. |

I am choosing the DPH, but does anyone know of a flip up rear Buis that will work with it? Plan on using it when med eye relief scope is removed. Thanks |
How did no one reference THIS thread. It's on the second page.
i think i already brought that up? and apparently B&T doesn't sell to non-leo/non-.mil importers. i sent them a question on their akm mount (similar to the larue, but only a rail) and i was fowarded to an importer that only deals with .leo and .mil |

I ordered the Stubbygear mount on 08-18-08 and have not received it. I have sent several emails through their "contact" and also the Paypal email. I have not heard back. Their "terms and conditions" indicate that most orders ship within "2 to 3 Weeks" and some items may take up to 6 to 8 weeks.
I didn't read their terms until after I had placed the order and was wondering why it took so long. |
Thanks pmiya, at least I know it's not just me. I wouldn't have minded if they would have actually responded to my email or phone messages and just told me "it's going to be 2-3 (or 6-8) weeks". Not replying at all is kind of a crappy way to run a business...
General, Keep calling!!!! They will answer adventually....... Keep calling everyday.
They are nice people with way too much shit to handle. Take your business else where. |
RE: Stubbygear.com
Called but unable to leave a message "Mailbox is Full" and no reply to emails. I haven't heard from them in over a month, since they acknowledged my order, and charged my credit card. Seems like they aren't too concerned about customer service. |
I tried calling again this morning. No answer, I have sent a few more emails, no answer. Have asked to cancel order and get a refund. I will not do any further business with them. I checked with www.bbb.org and there have been a few complaints on them, not a good sign.
DPH has one coming out soon with a lever to release the rear. Looks good.link, link, linkity, link
No reply since 9/17 though. |
GeneralDiscontent, thanks for the information. I was able to contact Nate at Stubbygear.com this afternoon and cancelled my order. Their mounts are on backorder from Germany and he said he had no idea how long it will take.
