I was on my way out the door this morning and got an email that this short complete upper was on sale. Put it in my cart because I did not have my CC handy. Looked back a short time later....OOS.

So....this thing was $220. Could I build a complete upper of the same quality for that much?

I bought the same upper a couple of months ago on the Fathers day sale. I think for the money it's a great buy. No, you can't buy the parts and save. The hand guard alone is $150.

The only real advantage of building your own over that one you saw on sale was that you can spread out the purchases of parts over a couple of months. It may cost you more, but it won't be as big of a one time hit to your bank account.
