Currently waiting for tax stamp to build a 300 Blackout SBR. Going with a 10.5" barrel. I plan to eventually run it suppressed. My question fr the community is what gas system length would be best for a 10.5" barrel suppressed / unsuppressed. Appreciate the community and any advise that you can provide.

Barrel length matters not, if it's .300 blk then use a pistol length gas system.

My 10.5 shoots everything with pistol gas. Suppressed subs abd supers, unsuppressed subs and supers. And the other awesome thing about 300blk is you dont need adjustable gas to do it. Mine is not over gassed shoot any combination of ammo suppressed or not.

Same, with 9".

Pistol-length is the answer with a short 300 BO barrel.

anything below 16 inch pistol length.

A good idea even if 16 inch in my opinion, and I have a 16 inch carbine length.

You'd be hard pressed to find a 10.5" barrel with anything but a pistol length gas port.  And with 300 Blackout, pistol gas is essentially "the only way to go."  I have a 16" upper and an 8" upper, both pistol and both run great.

Appreciate the knowledge  transfer. New to the 300 blackout system, so thank you!

I've noticed some PSA uppers have carbine gas, I'd stay away from those personally. I'm also somewhat new to 300 blk, I just finished an 8" build with a non adjustable lo pro gas block and it shoots same as my tuned gas 10.5 556. Brass ejecting at 5-6 o'clock supers and subs unsuppressed. Won't know how it acts with a can till they're out of jail, but I'll throw a SLR sentry 7 on if any issues. Regardless of barrel length stick with pistol gas and a 1:7 twist Is ideal with supers and subs.

I'm waiting on the snail mail to deliver my  BCM 9" 300 Blackout upper. Since you are doing a similar build I figured I'd drop a question here. On BCM's it says that it may not hold the bolt open on an empty mag. Works fine suppressed but I don't have that approved yet. Anyone have issues with this?

300blk shorter than 16" is designed for a pistol gas system, 16" or longer carbine. I have a 14.5" that has a pistol gas system.

Go with an adjustable gas block. Wide Open with mine was Overgassed, but once adjusted, I haven't touched it. Same setting for subs suppressed and supers unsuppressed. suppressed supers are over gassed but I don't want to mess with the setting. Gas block is cheaper than buffers and springs to try to tune it otherwise.

I run a 16 inch pistol length with no problems at all, I have an adjustable gas block, that I opened up fully when I started, then adjusted to the minimum, it runs with no problems at all.
