I believe it stood for "Practical Tactical".

I had a pretty good idea that their PTAC selection was their low-end stuff.

Over the holidays they had a pallet of what I assume were PTAC assembled uppers (mid-length hand guard). The finish on the upper receivers looked plastic-y and cheap.

made the mistake of buying a ptac upper over the christmas holiday. Got it a week ago and it couldn't even get the bolt to charge, finish was poor. Returning it.

My lowers look just as nice as the PSA brand upper, fit is great.  I'm happy I went with the ptac lowers on both the ar15 and ar10 platform.  Using PSA uppers though, so no idea what the tac uppers are like.

So wipe it down with CLP or some other oil.  Bone dry anodized surfaces are going to be lighter in color and very flat.

Take even the most expensive receiver out there with uber-perfect anodizing and hose the thing down with brake cleaner; the desiccant action of the chemicals-particularly the ethanol and methanol-will leave that shiny black piece looking grey and faded.

Got an rma from psa today. It's almost impossible to charge the bolt on the upper. Way too more force needed. Getting a refund and using that $ towards something of a higher quality.
