I've got three different models to choose from.

Spikes

CMMG

Stag

There's not $2 difference in cost.  My gut tells me to go with the Stag.  What say you guys?

Thanks,

Paul

Mega should also be in the hunt because they are spec and the finish is excellent.

I'm going to try Aero Precision next at spec and finish and their only $80+ffl.

Stag and CMMG are both excellent from my experience.

With lowers, just go with the logo you like best. [Assuming forged, in spec]

Whatever rollmark you like the best.

No appreciable difference between those 3 you pointed out.

I own Spike's, Stag, and Essential Arms lowers.

There is no appreciable difference between the three aside from the rollmarks.

The Stag will probably have slightly better resale value since it's more common and better known than Spike's and CMMG.

Yep. No appreciable differences. let your wallet and style dictate which logo you'd like on your gun.

Thanks for the input.  I forgot to mention that the upper is a CLE.  I'm going with the Stag.

I've got a recent Spikes complete lower (Cerro Forge/AOP milled) and it's really-really nice.  Matched up with my Cerro/LAR flat top upper like the two were a matched pair.  No focing anything together, but no wobble whatsoever.  Just perfect.

I've got a MEGA upper and lower that looks pretty sweet w/ color fill (MEGA is engraved in the upper as well). Machining is flawless (they are a machine shop after all) and the gator is different.

The Spikes are nice too. If I had to do it again I'd get safe/fire rather than the bullets.

These look nice also, and for $69.95 a good price. Might add a few to the litter.

I haven't really seen any difference in lowers though. Sometimes some minor flashing or a few machining marks. Certainly nothing to affect functionality.

This data can change but as of the latest list I've seen:

Stag has a high shelf.
Spikes can have either.
CMMG has a low shelf.

local funshop has Aero Precision lowers on special once in a while as low as $59. I built my 20" A2 on one and it went together great and fit really tight with my armalite upper

What does this mean, high shelf/low shelf?

Low Shelf can take the RDIAS (Registered Drop In Auto Sear), High Shelf can't.

Lowers are lowers, buy whatever you want.  Assuming forged in spec.  Which the vast majority of them are.  Can't remember the last time I saw a cast lower.

They're all good, and all of them can put out the occasional lemon.  Also keep in mind a lot of companies are simply rebadging someone else's lower.  Keeping track who uses which contractor can get complicated in a hurry.

Edit...

High Shelf (look at the selector hole location for reference)

Low Shelf
