I've built a Ar-15 using M&A kit with stag lower. Now i plan on building another AR-15. Im not going to use M&A again, i plan to use either Del-ton or J&T or Model-1 kit using DPMS lower. Can anyone give me the ups and downs on those makers? thanks.

I've built three J&T kits all were top shelf , and very good people to deal with ! I have heard that Model-1 & M&A were the same people .

I've used J&T and Model 1 and J&T is far superior IMO.  Avoid Model 1 .  I've bought parts from Del-Ton with no problems at all.

i would assume all of theese people that do the model 1 bashing have never used them, i have done several builds with no problem, you shoule be really happy with the stag lower as well.

I have used them for two kits.  The first was no problem.  The second was a pain-in-the-ass with me having to get several different LPK parts due to their being out of spec, including the hammer, which would not fit in any lower I own! I'm not saying it to be a I'm saying it because it's true.

Ditto.  J&T really did the right thing by me.  Without getting into specifics, they really went out of their way to make me happy!

Thanks J&T!

no, i understand, and i am sure with diffrent companys you may get some bad shit from time to time, just sick of all the " well i heard from a guy that knew a guy at the range that said they sucked" but really have no reason as to why they sucked.

I got an M4 barrel kit from Del-Ton and have no complaints.  It all went together nice and looks great.  It was missing the gas tube pin, but when I emailed them they apologized and sent one right out to me.

Yea, I just hate when people repeat stories they have heard without anything to back it up.

Get a J&T!!!

I have never had a problem with these guns whatsoever, and it was fun as hell putting them together.

i have built 3 ARs with there kits:
24" Varminter
16" Car
M4

..never a problem!

Absolutely no problems with it.

+1 J&T: I own two, and helped build another two kits (4 total).  Had zero problems and all shot great and went together without a hitch.

Del-Ton has some quality people working there and I ,along with several friends, have had no trouble with the uppers or any parts that have come from Tony. They will take the time to ask the correct questions so you will be better satisfied with whatever you buy from them.

I watched a friend build a 7.5 pistol from a Model 1 Sales kit over the weekend.  They used a DPMS lower.  I didn't see anything obviously wrong with the upper (it was already assembled),  but the lower parts were another story.  Fit and finish was poor, and springs were not all the correct length.  I was not impressed.

Got my barrel from M1S but, they sent the 16" heavy barrel instead of  the 16" M4 profile. Decided not to bother with exchanging it as I plan to change it to an SBR once the paper work goes through. Besides it saved me $40 for a barrel I'll end up selling in a few months anyways. Oh well.

I have used parts from all 3 of them...I like Double Star lowers...they buildup great,And I have never had bad service from J&T.I like del-ton cause tony is a nice guy he sell good stuff@ a good price and he is local but he kills me on the in state sales tax when I do mail order. I like to support my local gun guy.they guy who hooks me up with 2 new detent springs when I only lost 1,or one who takes the time to explain how not to screw up my next build.anyone from Jesse's crew@ J&T or Tony @ del-ton will do that........I have nothing positive to say about M1S...........

I have never purchased anything from M1 sales but I tried to at a gun show.  The attitude of the person at their booth led me to beleive them to be a poor choice.

Met Jesse today at a local gun show...nice guy...I haven't bought one of his kits yet.

Del-ton is great...great customer service and their prices are the best I have seen.  I just put together my first kit on Thursday and I will be buying more.

I just built a Del-Ton 16" carbine kit on a RRA lower.  The DT upper and parts went together, no problem.  The fit to the lower and the finish are great.  The customer service was outstanding and delivery was lightning fast.  I would have NO reservations buying another kit from Del-Ton and will recommend them to anybody who wants to build an AR kit.

I'm waiting on a kit from Del-Ton, so I'll have to let you know how it goes.  The nice thing about  Del-Ton is you can select from a load of options to add to your kit, many more than J&T; You can save yourself a few bucks if you order the kit with what you want instead of buying a "stock" model and adding extras later.

I'll add to that.  I bought a Del-Ton M4 kit and its been excellent.  Used a stag lower receiver.  I've shot a 1000rnds through it without a problem.  The bolt has a nice clean finnish on it.   No machine marks.

When I managed a gunshop all we used were J&T for the rifles we built and we were very happy with them. There was the occasional problem part but they would ship out a replacement right away. I have recently built two AR's using Del-Ton kits and love them, they are great! I have not used Model 1 parts but have heard many bad things.

I recommend Del-Ton too.  Just got done with a M4 kit and it looks great.  I will be looking to them for future builds (just wish they had some 1/7 Govt.profile Chrome-lined 20in. barrels available).

I have bought two J&T kits, a few upper receivers (A3 "flattops" to replace A1 and A2 uppers), and a couple of barrels, bolt carriers, and other asst parts.  All have been top notch.  In one of the kits I got someone else's missing detent spring.

The J&T upper rcvr finishes match the DPMS lowers perfectly.

More importantly, they go BANG!!! every time, no malfunctions of any type.
