I bought a 16" CAR kit from J&T. It's the A-3 "flattop" version with the detachable carry handle. My question is about the rear sight on the handle. The elevation knob has markings of 0,5,10,15,20,25 with 4 clicks each, between the numbers. In other words (0)1234(5)6789(10)11 etc. What is this system called? Is it National Match? Is the 0 equivilant to the 300 meter mark on a standard M-16? If not, what is is equivilant to? Posted a similar question before, but apparently nobody understood the q so I refrased it.

My suggestion is to take a good picture of it and post it on here.......

I went through the same confusion as you.  It is a national Match Sight.  I think each click is 1/4 MOA.  The markings are just to help count clicks and do not correspond to any specific range. Check out

Well, I don't have an OLY, but I think I will add this site to my list.  Looks like some knowledgeable people hanging out there as well as here.

Most sights have a 1/2moa windage adjustment.  Some have a second detent ball to provide 1/4moa windage.

I have seen 3 different thread pitchs for the elevation  (.150"/turn, .150"/2 turns, .150"/3 turns).  All of them have 25 clicks per turn.  A 20" barrel has a 20.125" sight radius making the point of impact move by 1.46, .73, or .49 inches per click at 100 yards.  The 16 or 14.5" barrels have a sight radius of 14.750" making the point of impact move by 1.07, .54, or .36 inches per click at 100 yards.

The standard GI moves the rear sight elevation by .150" in 1 turn.   It has just over 1 turn range.  The elevation knob has a flat marked 8/3 with other marks at 4,5,6,7.  It has 3 clicks between 3 and 4.

The "target" rear sight moves the rear sight elevation by .150" in 2 turns.  It has a range a little more than 2 turns.  The knobs marked 1,2,...,10 are commonly used for these.  The knob with 6/3 on the flat and marks at 4 and 5 will provide the correct point of impact at the indicated ranges with a 20" barrel.  These knobs have 6 clicks between 3 and 4.

The sight on the removable carry handle also moves the rear sight elevation by .150" in 2 turns.  The body of the carry handle sight is smaller and the range is only a little more than 1 turn.  My removable carry handles use the knob marked 6/3 on the flat.

I have seen only one rear sight that moved by .150" in 3 turns.

FYI...There is no such thing or ever has been a "National Match" sight on an M16/AR15 as the government never built any.  I hate to be picky but a lot of these manufacturers and distributors are marketing baloney.  There are 1/4 min sights out there built by good gunsmiths like Holliger or Compass Lake.  By the way the DCM was taken apart years ago.  I hate to be picky but Highpower shooters cringe with all these 'terms' people come up with just to sell stuff.

I have a 1/4 moa per click sight (bought from
Bushmaster) on my match AR ... but the markings on the elevation ring are the same as any standard A2 sight.
