Check it out......

Mark LaRue is stepping it up a notch in the weapon light world.  This is his new Battle Light.

Specs:
5 watt Luxeon LED
100 Lumens for 90 minutes
12.5 ounces, loaded
Runs on three 123A batts
Larue Tactical throw lever

Mount and light body are ONE PIECE.  No screws to loosen....just one solid chunk of high-strength aluminum.  Only two things screw on/off.  The head and the tailcap.

Here is something to look at:

100 lumens?

Roger that...For 90 minutes.

Then the light will start to degrade over a period of time.

You need one, brother.

Looks great( like all LaRue stuff) and what a great deal.  And my wallet is only inches awayCouple of questions. How is the beam quality? Does the tail cap lock out? What is LaRue's warranty like?

Does anyone know if LaRue has plans to market a mount for 1" lights (kind of like the DD)?
I would think a mount like the one on this light would be a big seller.

LaRue needs their own credit card co.
What's the OD of the Bezel?

The tailcap can be unscrewed to de activate the light.

There are plans in the works for a tape switch.

The beam is good...a true white light. Not yellow light.  I walked around outside last night annoying the cows with it.

What's the OD of the Bezel?

Someone asked to see a pic showing if it could be ran for a left-handed shooter.  Check it out:

That is as close as I could mount the BL to the vfg.  I have fairly small hands for my size and it was NO stretch for my thumb to work the switch.

Some other interesting things about the light. Mr. LaRue did some heat sync testing on this unit (with it attached to a FF rail). The built in mount helps to pull heat away from the bezel and onto the rail. This allows his torch to run at least 10-15% degrees cooler. He is also using a Luxon LED (so it is shock proof) and is double O ring sealed so you can get it REALLY wet (as in under water).

Thanks for backing me up Grant.

I wanted to do a submersion test since it had a double o-ring setup.  Unfortunately, the deepest water I have around here is a three foot deep horse waterer.

Serious Taggage - Anybody want to buy a Surefire?

Does anybody have the complete specs on this light (length / etc.)

And does anybody know if Larue is planning on offering a switch similiar to the SW02 / DEVGRU switch that Surefire offers for it's weaponlights?

Is the tailcap momentary on/off?  Does it have constant-on and how is it activated?  Can we get a beam shot vs. SF P90 bulb (105 lumens)?

Great concept - I love the light output & brightness - glad it's a LED; but 12.5oz is the killer for me.

I think I'd rather have a 4oz Scout and deal with the 65 lumens.

Yeah, but the scout is almost double the price.  And the Larue is easier to take off when it isn't being used.

After meeting the Larue bunch at the Shot Show for the first time, they are first rate professionals and KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH LE AND Civies! They are BOTH important to their work!...Their products are getting VERY interesting!!

TAG, can somebody please make room for all the light competition!!

It'll be interesting to see reviews.

What's the throw like on it?

Does the tailcap lockout, and is it of the clickie style or momentary?

Are they planning on releasing a 6V version?

At 12.5 oz, it's almost dead-nuts on the weight of a M961C... So it's kinda porky for my needs, unless it's got similar throw to the SF incandescent.

Also, VERY neat idea heatsinking the 5W through the body and the mount. The 5W generate a LOT of heat. This is an awesome, no-frills setup! But it just might not be for me

A 3watt, 70 lumen, 2 batt light is to follow.

As stated before, the tailcap is a momentary only.  No clickie.  Not a lockout.  You can unscrew it far enough so that it won't be activated when cased, etc...

This isn't the end-all, be-all light for everyone.  Just a new offering.

I have little time with a 5w LED head.  BUT, I did spend most of the day Tuesday with this one, and I never noticed excessive heat.  It didn't heat up my hand near as fast as my E2D.

Also, I really don't think that the loaded weight, 12.5 oz., is out of line.
