That is an outstanding light. It is every bit as bright as the Surefire 952. It also seems a bit more focused at distance. I really like it. And for the cost, man, thats a winner right there!

I went with the 6 volt over the 9 volt on the dissi just to try it out. I want a 6 volt on my soon-to-be-built dedicated house/cqb gun. I figured I'd try the 952 on the dissi, and if I liked it, I'd just leave it on and but another for the new rifle. If I didnt, I could just put this one on the cqb gun, and then get a 962 for the dissi. I tried them outside last night. Both work GREAT. However, for a more outdoor oriented rifle like the dissi, I think the 962 may be the way to go, so the 952 will most likely get transferred to the cqb gun once its finished.
I cant say enough good things about that OP6. Having an adjustable bezel, you can focus the light from a bit broader flood, down to a searing spot. It has the same solid fill like a Surefire, with no "dark" areas in it. If you are wanting a waterproof, shockproof, lightweight, strong light, then this is an outstanding one for the job. Its a good general purpose light, in that it can be used fairly effectively both indoors and out. As for the prongs on the tailcap. They do an EXCELLENT job of protecting the tape witch wire where it enters the tailcap. If you were to drop it or have something hit it right there, the prongs will keep it from shearing off the wire at the housing. The only way they will get snagged on anything is if you were low crawling backwards. And we all know which direction you should always be going........... ALWAYS FORWARD Drill Sgt.!!!!! Sorry guys, got called out the other night to dispatch a panther... And with MY luck, the only freaking gun I had that's sighted in was the EOTech equipped M1S90 Entry model. Luckily, we didn't see the thing, only heard it a few times. Those things have the most gut-wrenching, make the hair stand up on your neck, nasty sounding scream of any animal I've been around. Thank god for Surefire's Benelli weaponslight, hehe.

Let me tell you guys something. I've only had my OP-6 for a few days now, but guys, this light ROCKS. For the money, I am completely impressed with it. I am going to try and take some pics.....again....tonight. I got busy with some things last night and didnt get to. To be honest here, I am starting to like the beam from the OP-6 better than the SF. With the bezel being adjustable, you can focus it to a slightly tighter spot than what the SF is. My father loves it and plans on one for his carbine he is putting together.
In my opinion, the OP-6 is a perfect all purpose light. Yes, you can get them brighter that project further, but, for a light that is excellent indoors, yet still functionable outdoors, with a throw lever mount for quick on/off capability, water/weather proof, and shock proof, this is it. Thats not even including the price!  (banana added for Grant )

You must not know Hawkeye very well if your not listening to what he is saying about them. He is rough on gear (no safe queens allowed) and is picky about what he likes! If he likes something then it must be durable, functional and reliable. The Glass lens is more scratch resistant than the Lexan model and that is the only model that I order! I have sold these to a SWAT team in Maryland and they love them to say the least. If you buy one and hate it, send it back with no questions asked! C4 P.S. Thanks for the banana! |

Some things I am unclear about is how the OP feels to grip when it is dismounted from the ARMS mount? Does it look like a regular flashlight, or does it still have mounting stuff on there? I would like to be able to buy one of these (not sure about 6V or 9V, depends on length) with the ARMS mount from Grant. I would also like to get the touch switch and an additional regular tail cap w/thumbscrew/clickon so I could use this as a regular light source and keep it in my Jeep.
Just trying to finger this stuff out before I go to buy it...TIA |

The mount is part of the light. Dedicated weapons lights like this are not really meant to be used as stand alone hand held lights.

You can get an OP-6 (in either 6V or 9V) without a mount and push button (momentary/constant on) tail cap. You can then use a scope ring or whatever to mount it to your weapon. C4 |

Hawkeye, did you get your LD 9v? I think I'm going to take the non-SF plunge and get one. I've been told that there isn't much difference between the LD 6 and 9 volts but I can tell a pretty big difference between my SF 6 volt forends and my M500 (especially on the receiving end ). Please let us know!

I'm expecting my OP9 with coiled switch any time now. It's going on my Benelli Nova pump (duty use). For the money it seems like a great product. The mounts that LD has are also very well made and reasonable. I'll post some reviews when it gets here.

Yes. I have the OP-9. Really a GREAT light. However, comparing it with the OP-6, I think the OP-6 is my personal choice. The OP-9 has a tad further reach, but, for the most part, the OP-6 is equal to it but in a more compact package. Either one will serve you well though.

OK, Hawkeye, you've probably done it, I know I sure have! But when you look directly at the OP6 and OP9, does the latter distort your vision considerably more? It does for me with my SF 6 vs 9 volts systems.
