Durable LPVO mounts (Page 1 of 2)

I know this has probably been done but updates always happen, and didn’t want to bogart the qd vs non qd thread.

But as far as durable lpvo mounts that could take a beating (qd  and non qd) I’ve been looking at:
Scalar works (new hinge model?)
ADM
Larue
Giessele
Bobro
Unity
Reptilia
Nightforce
Warne
EDIT (additions from replies):
Spuhr
Badger
Leopold
Vortex (ADM/Warne made)
GG&G
Midwest industries

Anything I should add or remove, or models from the brands above that people experience semi regular failures on?

Badger COMM is pretty much the best mount I've ever used.
Link Posted: 3/5/2024 7:19:49 PM EDT

Spuhr is missing, and by association the Griffin mount.

Take bobro off the list. Too easy to break the stupid threaded shafts off in the nuts. I have one that has been repaired and two sitting in a drawer with broken threads. Pulled the rest and switched to all Warne and Badger. The Warnes at least have steal helicoil inserts instead of threading into the aluminum mount with a steal screw.

Badger for sure. I ran GG&G FLT for a number of years too.

Thanks for the replies, somehow forgot about badger and spuhr.

I forgot about gg&g completely haven’t heard them for a few years.  Still considered gtg by others?

I’m a fan of the Reptlia mount. It holds firm to the rail

without using the big lug nuts.

Leupold makes a good one and SOME Vortex use ADM or Warne as the OEM.

Out on a limb here and many dislike their product but been happy with this mount. I don't kick in doors or dive in trenches like some folks here, yet for the price with a military discount it is pretty good.

I like Larue's QD mounts, but not at the new price point. I also have an ADM that hasn't given me any issues. I'd buy another.

This right here. I’m done with Larue.
The utility for QD LPVO mounts seem to be at an all time low.
All Badger and Reptilia for me now.

I'd add the Leupold Mark AR mount

I use Larue QD mounts and they are solid. I can take them in and off between rifles and they still hold zero.

I used to be all in on Larue.  FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!!

How else is he going to stay in business after poor decisions like the C-Note, Cagulowa, and Accarizer. I seriously wonder what’s running through his mind.

I prefer ADM (and QD). Have used Warne and Larue in the past with no complaints, but I like how the ADM has a captured adjustment nut that doesn’t require special tools.

The way Scalarworks uses that hinge pin on the rings in shear is stupid.  When they first came out I thought, That’s dumb… it’s going to break.  Then they started breaking.

Warne makes a solid, simple, affordable, made in the US mount. They just need to offer higher mounts.

Primary Arms has some nice PLx mounts in both 30mm and 34mm sizes.  1.5" and 2.04"

Quality is similar to Badger, Geissele or Reptillica at a lower price point.

Yup we need more options in the 1.7" variety.

If you like a lower fixed mount, a Leupold Mark AR mount isn't going anywhere.
Have used several, zero complaints.

Not too heavy and not too pricey...

30mm mount is 1.4" tall
34mm mount is 1.5" tall

I've never gone out of my way to break them but I was happy with a fixed Warne and QD GG&G.

Reptilia 30mm AUS is now available at 1.7 height. Does everything the C1 does but lighter, more streamlined, and better cap mount options. J arms are in the works as well.

Leupold makes some really light scopes and oddly don’t make a light mount.

I got the extended mount and it’s a beast.

Enough Leopold, and GG&G to add to the top list.  Also the Warne and ADM Vortex

Thanks for adding heights in the thread too will save some people some time!

Not comfortable throwing UTG or Swmapfox in there yet

..a little nervous about the scalarworks but haven’t heard of the new hinge models breaking?

Yeah I wish they were reversible like some other mounts. And a single lever mount would be nice. Too many double levers just add weight.

Does anyone offer a 1.7” center height, QD mount in the $250 range?  I can’t seem to find one.  I may just go 1.93, but I don’t really want to go that tall.

Yes you do.

Life is easier when you can present a rifle without rolling your head forward.  We use Midwest Industries 1.93 mounts at work, they are fantastic.

I am a 1.7” guy. If you use passive NV, the RMR on top ends up perfect height.

In All honesty, I've actually had good luck running UTG mounts - of all things.

It's not like aluminum metalurgy amd machining aluminum is all that exotic any more   And they use decent screws (watch the screws, cheap Amazon brands use shit screws that stretch)

Can confirm.
Don't have any at the moment but hard to complain, especially for the money.
New UTG / UTG Pro is not the same as old UTG.

Warne mount is $100. Why go with anything else for a budget option. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Warne products. UTG has significantly improved over the last several years. Went from garbage to serviceable products that are a good value

I would recommend skipping Scalarworks (esp. the hinge model).

With regards to QD mount durability, I think LaRue is arguable victor.

ADM makes a great QD mount too, but I have broken the latching mechanism on one.

I didn't read the thread before posting.

For a NON-QD budget mount ... Warne is absolutely my choice.  I have a variety of the SKEL in 1" and 30mm.  AWESOME value in these mounts.

ETA: I see no functional difference between my $350 Geissele Precision mounts or $350 JP Enterprise mount and my $100 Warne mounts.  The Warne mounts are actually machined (exterior) to tighter tolerances than my $200-350 ADM mounts (the ADMs often have exterior edges on the ring halves that aren't "flush" to one another).  The only actual difference is the G is "cool guy gear" while the "W" is lametastic.

^^^apparently no matter the cost ......

Love my Nightforce Ultra Mount but to be fair, I can only gauge the durability of the build quality and materials used as well as the finish. Very well designed and high quality mount. I don't think I'm planning on beating it it up any time soon.

I'm in a similar situation.  I have quite a collection of "higher end" mounts, but the only mount I've seriously abused is a mid-range mount: LaRue LT104 SPR 1.5.

Actually, I've abused quite a lot of LaRue's mounts without any issues.  One of my ADM mounts broke with little use.  My singular Scalarworks experience was abysmal.  I wouldn't even consider that brand again.

All my LaRue mounts have been excellent over the years but never tried an LPVO one. I would think they'd be great too.

I wasn't kidding when I posted that, UTG is about all I use for standard scope mounts and even T-2 and RDS mounts.  Hopefully they come out with some taller scope mount options.
