A few weeks ago I purchased a leupold Mark ar scope in 3x9x40 to replace a weaver 4x scope that
ive had for over 40 years. The 4x was hard to use at 200 yards and further out so I decided on the
3x9x40 from Leupold. It is definitely a better scope at the further distances I have it zeroed at 100 yards
and can turn compensator dial for 200 and 300 yards as long as I am shooting 55 gr bullets and it works
pretty well. I would recommend it for someone not wanting to spend more than $300 on a rifle scope for
an AR of course you have to purchase mounts and dust covers separately.
I got it at Cabellas and very pleased with the product.

+1 I have the 1.5- 4 as well. Great scope period, the price is just a bonus.

I purchased the same one, but with the mil-dot retcile, mounted with the RRA high rise scope mount. The clarity is unbelievable. THe main reason I purchased it was Leupold's "no questions asked" full lifetime warranty.

I was travelling for work recently in St. Louis and I went to the Cabelas in Hazelwood, MO. THey had a Mark AR in 4-12x40. It looked so freakin awesome. I am trying to save up cabelas points for one right now.

I've set a budget of $600 for a scope....Plan to use primarily for target (100-200yds) and to a smaller degree for hunting.  Recommendations?  Also some thought of limiting scope to say $400 and getting a spotter for $200....Thoughts?

Hbar flattop match competition Colt.

I have been looking at these also.  There is a $150 difference between the 3-9 and the 4-12, I'm wondering if it is worth it.

Just so everybody knows, I got the 3-9x40 mildot a while back and put it through its paces and it passed with flying colors. Box test was perfect, the adjustments are precise and perfectly repeatable and it returns to zero every time. I leveled it up on the rifle and it tracks a perfect vertical and horizontal line. The mildots are perfectly accurate. These scopes cannot be beat for this price, the clarity is sharp edge to edge. Its basically Mark 4 quality in a very simple package. 1" tube instead of 30mm, T1 and T2 knobs instead of M1 M2 and M3 knobs, fixed parallex  instead of adjustable ( unless you get the 6-18 model and it has an A/O), They are even tested to the same standards as the Mark 4. I recommend this scope to anybody who can afford the Mark 4 but want the Mark 4 quality and durability.

I have the Mark Ar 3x9x40 on a Larue SPR 1.5 QD mount. The mount is great, the scope, not so inpressed with the lewpy.

LaRue for sure, would think the SPR 30mm with 1" inserts for future flexibility of either 30mm or 1".

I'm frugal, and I don't need the QD feature, so I'm going to be different and mount mine with an Armalite scope mount.  It isn't sexy, but it gets the job done.

Isn't that back a touch to far with that mount?  I believe the Mark AR has very similiar Eye Relief to my Mark 4 1.5-5...and i have mine mounted just ahead of the rear of the Troy BUIS...i suppose in the pic there's another inch of rail to move the mount forward which i think would get pretty close....suppose it depends upon the rifle/rail.

I ageree a $200 mount for a $300 scope is a little tough to justify...but in my case i like the qd as i have a few scopes and only 1 rifle for now.

I noticed the same thing and I agree. That's not my rifle, I posted that pic in case anyone was curious to see what the Armalite mount looked like.  Mine will be further forward than that.
