Looking thru the 2005 new products and they have this red dot comming out, along with some tactical scopes. It at least looks good, might turn out to be a less expensive alternative.

Man, those optics look totally XTREME!
Oooooooooh, shit. The Aimpoint guys are gonna bring down a shit-storm of biblical proportions over this one.
Probably won't have anywhere NEAR the battery life of an Aimpoint, but I do like the switch on this one better. It also looks to take 2032 (or similar) batteries, which are damn near a dime a dozen. |
I agree, and I like much. Now I've got something else to actually go looking for at SHOT. |
I have 3 Burris scopes all of which are over 5 years old and have never given me a problem. The one on my AR has endured a lot of abuse. I'm definately going to give these a look over.
Xtreme Tactical, that is hot, i got to have one right freaking now. it is totally tactical and extreme at the same time.
All kidding aside, this does look like a Aimpoint knock off but for the lower price I wonder what is its capabilities. it would be a cool sight for Airsoft and my Ruger 10/22 rabbit gun. |
Good lord! It looks like they copied the SL M3 as well! Will have to investigate at the SS... C4 |
I think its got a laser...
The rings look familiar too... Either way, no big deal- if it works, it works. |
That looks like a private label job to me. I am sure Burris just buys them in bulk with their name printed on it. The XTREME link was the best part of this thread |

+1 on the xtreme.
I also saw in the last American Rifleman that Truglo is putting out an uber tactical 2x red dot. I would like to try it out for my 10/22. Havent seen it anywhere else. |
Well, if the damn thing works, I could care less if they call it "Xtreme to the max" or "gopher fucker"
So there ya go. |
Chen- I laughed so loud reading that line, my boys came into the room to see what was so funny! I might even make it my sig-line (with your credit, of course!) 50's: Wonder & Dyna 60's: Astro 70's: DeLuxe 80's: Turbo 90's: Cyber & Tec 00's: Xtreme |
So, when you see yet another tube-type magnified rifle scope with a cross hair reticle, do you say "This is just another cheap Weaver K knockoff! What is this nonsense?" ...or do you just accept that many makers make similar sight products because the basic design is solid, and it's what the market wants?
Price depending I'll get one and abuse the shit out of it like I'm doing with a tacpoint currently. Should make for an interesting review. |
I am sure you will find that they are made by some of those heathen communist you feel so strongly about. I think you should get up on your soapbox at the Shot Show and impose your will and opinion onto all in attendance. Dealer who shall remain nameless----------------> EDITED TO REMOVE NAMES DUE TO SENSITIVITY ISSUES. |

1 - Need to keep an open mind to new products.
2- Not everyone can afford $450 plus for red dots and mount. 3 - Burris has a good reputation for quality product. 4 - Burris products are made in the USA. |
If this scope is only 100 cheaper than the Aimpoint, its not worth it.
100 extra dollars is a small price to pay for the quality of an aimpoint. |
I used to own a Burris pistol scope some years ago. I never had a problem with it. However, on another forum that I visit regularly several people complain about the Burris warranty service. If it never goes down then its not an issue. But, enough people have complained about their warranty service and I don't want to chance it.
I've gone to the Bushnell Elite line for all of my scope needs now. Tremendous warranty reputation. I'm hoping that my EOTech doesn't go down after the 2 years is up. |
I got curious about the price so I e-mailed Burris. Here are my questions and their answers: Can you tell me the dot size? (MOA?) 3 MOA Battery type? #2032 Water proof? Yes MSRP? $353.00 So there is the answer on the price. Since it is about the same price as an Aimpoint, I think I will not be trying this Xtreme Tactical high Speed Dot out anytime soon. |
I actually own a Burris BD scope and think it is a good piece of glass. I will be sure to "grill" the Burris folks about this Aimpoint clone at the SS! C4 |
The MSRP is $353. I bet that the actual street price will be about $200.
Get over it. |

Street price should be between 200-220 bucks.. I know dealer cost but will not tell..

Mike, Do you have a kick ass ARFCOM dealer price for us yet? |
+1 You ever see any other Burris products actually offered for sale at MSRP? Lonny |
Midsouth has them listed at $202 and change, "available soon".
ETA: 3 MOA dot with 200 hours of run time at the highest intensity level. So says Burris. |
2032's are dirt-ass cheap, and can be found all over the place. That's a plus. Waterproof...well, good...who would buy an optic that isn't? MSRP...nobody, but NOBODY (especially around here) pays MSRP for anything. I still like the switch better than the Aimpoint's, but that's just my particular preference. If I were Burris, I'd shit-can both the "Xtreme" and the "tactical" descriptions; both are WAY overdone. Hell, I saw a "tactical attache case" for sale last night... |
+1 on both of those. I really could go for a much larger dot. For true CQB work, Trijicon and EOTech have done it right. |
I wish somebody would take a tip from OKO and make a Red Dot that can have a pressure switch attached for turning it on. In the middle of the night if I needed my AR I bet I would not have an easy time turning on my EOTECH.
Oooo! Ooooo! Can I tell? Midway already has them advertised with a suggested retail price of $199. http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/664830 If you want one, click the Remind me button to be notified when you can order/backorder one. I would be willing to bet their price will be increased probably to around $219-249, shortly after they start taking orders/backorders. |
I have been cruising around the web...All I could find so far has been a description of the red dot 3 MOA. Nothing more...I would assume it is just a plain old dot. Chris |
let me be the first to say ETA: so it does not sound so smart ass, I know what you mean. But most Aimpoint users will not consider this an alternitive. It could very well be a good step up from a Tacpoint though. Time will tell how good it is. Maybe me and photoman could get one each and test it out. |
BookHound, I sent an e-mail to Burris with these and a few more questions. I will post answers when the get back to me. |
"let me be the first to say "
909, Why not an alternative? If it carried a $300.00 price tag? Or is it just a loyalty issue and they can never be sold on another product? |
Let me be the FIRST to say that it has nothing to do with the price tag, but with the quality. Show me an optic that gives you 10,000hrs battery life (50k for the 3 series) off a 1/3 lithium batt., water proof past 66ft, issued to our Military and has proven itself in combat. If you can find a replacement for those specs at a cheaper price then we'll talk... C4 |
Well, it is still a young market for that type of product~ We'll see.
I have nothing against the Aimpoints, they are indeed fine sights. I like the idea of other products competing. Pricing will fall, improvements will be made, etc.. Chris |
