www.gandrtactical.comDear EOTECH,
I just wanted to drop a line to let you guys know that without a doubt you have the best sight on the market. My name is SFC Steve Warren an am currently in ARSOF. I recently completed a tour in OEF and must say that it is the finest sight on the market. The sight we purchased for my team was the HDS 502. I have had this sight for about a year prior to my deployment and have used it on a variety of operational missions, my teams focus is CQB.Through all the sites on the market my EOTECH has held up the best and I have used everything that has come down the line. In terms of durability it is the toughest most well made sight around it has made numerous jumps and fastrope insertions been in countless simunition engagements (many times taking direct hits to the window) and just recently some maritime operations. At no time has this site ever failed, its zero been knocked off and most importantly let me complete my mission. There is NO other sight out there that I can say that about. The reason I'm writing is to tell you of an encounter in OEF that I feel your sight made the difference in keeping me in the fight and out of the papers. In a raid we conducted to apprehend a wanted bad guy we infiled into the worst possible area. As our birds flew in the pitch black over this area people came out of their houses to investigate. Because of the darkness and the brown out from the rotors they could not really tell what was there until we came running up out of night. Our NVG's helped and we quickly suprised them and secured the area.I was in a blocking position on the west end of the obj. As we got into position the main assault force quickly started to take down the OBJ. Our job was to isolate the obj (no one in or out) or position was by far the most exposed by being on the edge of a group of allyways and high perimeter walls. We immediately started to receive calls over the net from the airborne sniper platform there were about 8 squirters (people fleeing) leaving the compound in all directions. As we were watching one of the alleys a lone figure was approaching us we could see that he was carrying something but because of the darkness and the distance we could not get positive I.D. to engage him.We called out to him to stop and he ducked into a small doorway that we had not seen.He immediately opened fire down the wall at our left flank. We had a M249 at the end of that wall who simultaneously suppressed the area and cut off any escape. The rest of us still had trouble seeing what was happening , it was that dark that at less than 50 meters we still could barely make out his shape. He then shifted fire directly at me.In the span of about three to four seconds I raised my rifle acquired my sight picture, I could not see him so I put my circle around his muzzle blast and dot where I thought his head would be and squeezed off three shots one fatally wounding the attacker. This whole situation took less than 25 seconds but could have turned out for the worst for as his body was recovered he was loaded down with ammunition and grenades. I feel that you're sight was the reason that this night went as smoothly as it could have so I say thanks again and will always recommend EOTECH Sights as the most dependable sight on the market.
