I just ordered a couple of 50 round boxes of CBC 5.56 77 gr OTM. I'll shoot it next week and post some pics of the accuracy I get at 100 yards. The reviews look great on this stuff. Great prices on it too. I like what I read about the effectiveness of the 77 gr SMK for SD, especially since it was picked by our military to excel at accuracy over standard mil-spec stuff(M193,M855 etc) at longer ranges.

I've shot a box or two of Fiocchi, SSA and Federal Gold Medal with the the 77 gr SMK in .223 with good accuracy results but this will be the first actual 5.56 loading I've tried with it.

It's great ammo.

Not super accurate, but It'll do 2moa or a little better as far as you can shoot it.  

I've shot it out to 700yds from a 20" barrel.

CBC 77gr OTM is pretty accurate out of my SR15 Mod1.
I am not a very good shot, and the shooting range I go to has a mediocre setup where I can't get my shooting arm to be fully supported.
I think you can say CBC 77gr OTM is a 1MOA-1.25MOA ammo.

Remember CBC 77gr  ( as well as other 77gr SMK loads ) really doesn't shine until about 200yards.... it can be un-stable and still settling down at 100yards.

So, get it sighted in at 100 and then move to a longer range.

You will probably see even better accuracy at 100 yards with some of this... ( trust me )

Again save the 77gr for longer range practice.

And use the less expensive Fed. TV ammo to hone your bench and trigger / shooting skills at 100 yards

It's now the only ammo I shoot. I love this stuff and with the price of SMK bullets, you can't reload for much cheaper.

I love the AE 50gr 'Tipped Varmint'....
I get about the same results, but yes, AE 50gr 'Tipped Varmint' seems more consistent at doing 1MOA-1.25MOA

I'm currently stocking up on only CBC 77gr OTM and AE 50gr 'Tipped Varmint'

I haven't tried the CBC yet, the AE 50gr varmint tip is great, but don't forget Australian Outback 69gr SMK BTHP, great price and very accurate.

I could too if I was on a bench at a range.  I'm shooting off a bipod in whatever conditions I go shooting in.  It's never done me less than 2MOA in real world type shooting.

Not trying to be condescending, but.... that is not how you test the real potential accuracy of a particular ammo/load...

Got to the range today and the CBC stuff did pretty good. I only had time to go through 20 rounds at 100 yards. I ended up shooting 5 rounds groups, and averaged 0.852 MOA across all 4. This was done at one of the Dept. of Conservation ranges, so I was lucky no one zinged a wayward 9mm round into any of my targets.

The shitty part is that yours truly ended up throwing a shot on one which opened that group over 1 MOA. Overall they were as follows...

1. 0.748 MOA
2. 0.764 MOA
3. 1.348 MOA Ugh.
4. 0.551 MOA

Have any of you guys chronographed the CBC 77 gr OTM 5.56? I have read in a couple of older google searches where it has shot a tad faster than BH 77 gr OTM 5.56 under the same conditions/day. Anyone find this to be true with your findings?

Well, the ammo came in today( only three days late so I missed my range date). It was packaged amazingly well with thin cell foam that was taped around both boxes of 50 from Primary Arms. Fedex was the hold out. Their driver(young guy) said they won't leave packages at the front door of apartments anymore, even if you have a signed note telling them too. They will leave it if you sign THEIR slip they left though. I requested it to be left at the door when I ordered but oh well.

I'll get to the range in a few days and shoot pics of the groups at 100 and 200 yards. I don't think I can get honestly get good groups at 300 yards with my 1-4X24 scope but I will give it a try. I might be able to chrono it though.

Does the CBC 77gr load have sealed primers and case necks?

Primer is sealed, case neck not. Only got to check zero at 50 yards at the indoor range which was the same as 55 FMJ Federal bulk through my DDM4V7. Tighter groups though. 77 gr SMK has cannelure. I won't get to stretch out the range until a week or so. Recoil felt nice and hot like a proper 5.56.

I just pulled one of mine. It looks like there is asphalt on the bullet and powder sticks to the inside of the case neck.

I didn't see any externally applied sealant. I'm not a reloader so I wouldn't know if it's possible to seal a bullet before it's pressed in the case. I guess by asphalt you mean powder sticking the the base of the bullet?

No.

Bullets are sealed to case necks with asphalt sealant. When you pull the bullet, you'll typically see black streaks. If its over applied during manufacturing, it can be visible on the outside of the case.

The powder sticking to the inside of the case neck after pulling the bullet is an indication there is sealant there. ;)

Shot some out to 600,

Groups about 1.5" at 100 yards. 10s and Xs at 200 and 300. At 600 wind was kicking my butt but there was not much vertical dispersion.

Stuff is hot as shit. I saw 2900 fps out of a 20" barrel. I was actually testing a magnetospeed with a known good chrome and results were consistent in the low 2900s.

I know they've use several different powders so that may have something to do with it.

Went to the CMP range again today and shot a group just a hair over 1" at 200 yards, followed by two 97/100 (3X on one, did not record other but think it was 5X) for ten shots at 600. WOA Varmint, 6X18 scope off the rest blocks provided at the range. Wish I had bought more.

I've got 100 rds of this stuff coming in this week. I probably won't get super speed out of my 14.5" barrel but I'm hoping for some tight groups.

IMI Razor Core 77gr. OTM...best MK262 clone out there.

Trying to decide on this or Razor. Is this ammo temperature stable and any corrosive issues?

This ammo is OOS almost everywhere for the good prices ($29/box), anything over that is not worth it IMO.

Anyone know when the next CBC shipment comes in?

Be careful with these people.  I tried ordering some CBC 77gr from them a few months ago.  It showed in stock, I placed my order, got an email with a tracking number the next day.  Three weeks later, still no ammo, tracking showed no package picked up from Armsunlimited yet.  I email them a few times, they finally said they don't know when they'll get more and reversed the charge on my card.

I got the email list to be notified when it came back.

Got an email on the 2nd of this month that it was in stock, placed my order on the third, same shit.  11 days out, no ammo, dead tracking number.

 The ammo I ordered did ship, 12 days after I ordered it, but it is on it's way.  Will update again when it arrives.

Damn, good to know.  I guess it's a good indicator when nobody else has any, but they have cases "in-stock".  Sounds kind of like my only experience with botach.

I've had good success with 77gr Norma Match.  I shot my top 1 MOA all day entry with it.  At 100 meters I averaged .736 MOA for five 5 shot groups.



It's on sale at Midway for $15.30/box.
