This may have been posted in the past, but I didn't see it posted recently. Found this at my local Walmart for 33 cents/round. Is this stuff any good (reliable, clean).

It's not bad, I'd even say it's as good, if not better than, Win White Box. Good enough for practice/plinking. I've used the 5.56, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP ZQ ammo. It's about as clean as you can get at that price.

I bought a few hundred rounds of the 5.56 but haven't shot any yet. The 5.56 is ss109, steel core.

ETA: I fired off a box of the 9mm and it was fine.

I've been running some of the 7.61 through a Century FAL rifle. The ammo is fine.

I have yet to catch it in stock, nothing on the shelf but a label every time. Today went to my usual store and the label was gone and in it's place is Perfecta .223 55gr FMJ brass case in 50 round boxes. It is made in Italy and distributed by Tulammo USA. Never heard of it but price was $19 so I grabbed one to try. Haven't shot any yet but even if it is just fodder I can use the brass.

Yep, the ZQI 5.56 is good ammo.  XM855 was more accurate (shorter vertical strings) for me in my own informal comparison, but at those prices it is hard to beat.

As noted, it's steel-core ammo, so watch your range rules for any prohibitions on that.

Bought some last week, will be buying more.

The last batch I bought in 7.62x51 was great, brass was a little soft like fc commercial. As far as the federal/lc xm80 white box stuff goes, I found it to be mediocre and frequently I can Id several distinct lots of ammo in the same box (different sealants, primers, primer crimps, and jacket compositions). I have come to believe it's floor sweepings.

I've seen them at my Wal Mart but to be honest the price wasn't all that great. Also between the sales taxes and limits I just prefer to buy online. Online ammo shopping has pretty much spoiled me as I rarely find anything cheaper at a brick and mortar or gun show.

The ZQI is GTG.
The 5.56 is M855 spec, brass cased, new manufacture.

The Walmarts around here are $9.97/30rnd box and even with our high sales tax (8.25%), that's about .36/rnd.

I snatched up all the 7.62x51 I could find.
At .54/rnd (after tax) for brass cased, NATO spec, it's pretty hard to beat and it shoots well out of my rifle.

Online is usually cheaper, and can be better if you are buying in bulk.
The ZQI at Walmart is still good ammo,
especially if you just want to grab some ammo for the range.

The Walmarts around here no longer have limits on any ammo except .22LR,
and I'm not sure if all the stores are even enforcing that limit anymore.

I am curious, where are you buying M855 spec ammo for < $0.36/rnd delivered?

Haven't tried the 5.56 yet but the 7.62 is GTG IMO. Cleaned out 5 Walmart s last week , over 1400 rds so far

Have used quite a bit of ZQI 9mm and 5.56. I haven't found anything to complain about.

I think when most people see it on the shelf they assume its $9.97/20 when its actually $9.97/30

My buddy and I shot about 120 rounds yesterday out of his PSA w/ 1/8 SS .223 wylde build. Groups were much, much better than the AE that we were shooting. GTG in my book.

My local WalMart hasn't had it in stock for a number of weeks now. They have taken the label off the shelf and their website has listed it as currently unavailable for a while now. It's a shame; it was good quality ammo and at that price for M855/SS109 you couldn't beat it. Maybe they will bring it back at some point.

It has performed well for me so far.  When Wal-Mart had it on clearance a few months ago for 7.97 a box with no limit on purchase, I cleaned out every

Wal-Mart in my town (5 of them) and ended up with 33 boxes worth.  If you are going to buy a large bulk of ammo, buy something else and buy online.

If you don't have the funds for a large bulk buy, but instead do the 1-3 boxes per paycheck, it is one of the better deals you will find, and in just a

short while, you will have a useful amount of decent ammo, without really noticing the cost.

I love this stuff...all except at one assinine store that can KMA...I went in to one of my regular Wallyworld's last week (North Dallas Tollway store at Park for those interested)...they had both 325 packs of Federal Auto Match .22 and 14 or more boxes of the ZQ1 7.62.  I told the clerk I would like my 3 boxes of .22 and I'd take all of the ZQ1..she said I'm sorry I can only sell you 3 boxes of each....I was like WHAT?  You must be mistaken every other WM in the D/FW metroplex only restricts .22LR.  She said it was her Manager's orders.  Thinking she was mistaken (her english was terrible) I asked to see the manager.  Sure enough he said that Texas Parks and Wildlife said they could only sell 3 boxes and that all Wallmarts were restricting purchases to 3 boxes...I asked to see the manager (he again insisted he was the manager).  I said look, I just came from 2 other stores where I exceeded your so called limit - you are the only strore professing such crap.  (Every other wallmart has signs that say only .22 is restricted on quantity - at this store all such signs are mysteriously missing).  I told him he needs to call the other stores and get his facts straight because he was mistaken.  He said he'd call and get them to change per TPWD rules..I told him good luck with that.  Then went to the store in the Colony off of 121 and bought 20 boxes of ZQ1  (the 2nd time I've done that at this store in 2 weeks)..damn idiots...

Since when does TPWD have ANY say over ammo sales ?

I got six more boxes today, puts me over 1500 rd now
Noticed my closest store does not have tags on the shelf for ZQI 556 or 762, hope its not going away.

Some of the best SS109 out there, in my opinion. I think it's better than LC or Winchester.

I found it pretty consistent and kept a 1.5-2 MOA grouping.

Only draw back is the smell and mess - a bit like the SA 5.56 cat piss smell. It's pretty dirty, but manageable.

Since Wally World sales drones often have no idea what they're talking about?  TPWD can't get Austin to apply the funds they take in in fees actually TO the parks, they sure can't tell a company like Wal-Mart what to do.

ZQI is the ammunition arm of Zenith Firearms, and they seem to be expanding.  The stuff isn't going away, but different Wal-Mart stores adjust what they stock based on when they get what they get, and ZQI could be a little bit behind in shipping.  I want to get my hands on one of their Z-5K pistols, but I don't know when they're going to be available for sale.

Shot over 200 rds of the 5.56 out of my 11.5 upper groups great and no problems. Have over 1000 in reserve   Have shot over 300 of the 9mm NATO out of my colt 9mm 16 inch AR and my RRA 10 inch AR not one problem. Some guys report light primer strikes on the 9mm but they are using Stryker fired guns when my understanding is the 9mm NATO is for sub guns and hammer pistols.    With the 9mm the ZQI white box is $21 for 50 and the same stuff is $12 for 50 in the new colors package... LOL I don't get it

I was stalking the central Ohio walmarts for the 7.62x51. @ $10.00 for 20 rounds it was one of the better deals to be had.

I cant recall whether an employee told me or I read somewhere that they were discontinuing the 7.62, hence the sale price.?

Hope its not true, but they have not restocked the 7.62 in recent weeks.

Runs perfect out of my M1A.

He's correct.  62gr SS109.

Locally, nobody buys the stuff.  Or at least didn't up until about a week ago.  Wally World had it stacked deep, and I think I was the only person bought any.  It was always cheap, and always there.  Yesterday, it was sold out.  This morning they had 4 boxes and I bought all 4.  Because of it's price and availability, it's been my ammo of choice.

Based on what I read, they only make standard NATO calibers.  5.56, 7.62, and 9mm.  And that's all I've ever saw at my local Walmarts.  I've never saw .40 or .45 like a previous poster said.

Different box (there are like 3 box variants for Zqi 5.56) - but it's all the same round.  Stanag 4172 is NATO speak for Standardization Agreement (Stanag) 4172.  This agreement was the standardization document for NATO countries on 5.56mm SS109/M855.
