Winchester Q3131A1 is made in South Korea (presumably PMC) for Winchester. This is
NOT Q3131 made in the USA nor the same as Q3131A made in Israel. Please add your personal experience with WINCHESTER Q3131A1 ammunition to this thread. When you do, please give information about: 1) Firearm used in 2) Approximate number of rounds fired. I am trying to solicit only information about your PERSONAL experience with this ammunition. If you haven't used it, then please don't clutter up the thread. Information about proper functioning (or lack thereof) is obviously the most important, but factors such as the accuracy or other peculiarities you've noticed are informative also. If you have had problems with this ammo which were severe enough to cause you to stop using this ammo, then please describe them - don't just vote that you didn't like it. And one more minor request: keep your reviews objective. |

Why is there a pancake in the silverware drawer? You mean why is there silverware in the pancake drawer?

I used it to zero the irons and Aimpoint on my new LMT MRP (14.5" CL w/ perm attached Vortex) and then plink a little. Small sample of 60 rounds, but I was pretty satisfied. Tore out the center of the target at 50 yards. May not seem like much of an accuracy test, but this is a utility type rifle with nonmagnified optics, not a precision rig. Didn't have any uncalled fliers or strays either, everything was grouped pretty much together. Well, within my abilities. Used GI aluminum mags, and had no stoppages or malfunctions. I have not shot anything else out of it, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I'm happy with it. For whatever that's worth. We'll see how the rest I bought works out.

Fired 40 rounds of Q3131A1 last week with zero malfunctions. Rifle was a 20" Colt with 1:12 twist.
I didn't have a chronograph, but this is what others have reported: Originally Posted By the-fly: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=456620Gun used: CMMG 16" 1/7 pencil barrel with phantom flash suppressor (Q3131A1) 3048 3080 3048 3081 3088 3066 3084 3082 3056 3052 Average of 3069 Originally Posted By VenomousDuck: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=16&t=445815Well my brother agreed to allow the use of his 20" barrelled Armalite mentioned above, here are my findings as measured 15' from the muzzle: Q3131A1 (same lot as above)....3222, 3203, 3180, 3143, & 3161 Originally Posted On M4Carbine.net: Winchester’s Q3131A1 fired from a 20” Colt barrel with a NATO chamber, chrome lining and a 1:7” twist had a muzzle velocity of 3180 fps with a standard deviation of 24 fps. http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=30943 General consensus seems to be that it is slightly underpowered compared to Q3131 (U.S.) and Q3131A (Israel). |

This ammo looks promising. The only problem I had with my small sample was a round or two with excessive bullet runout. I'm not sure if this has always been typical of factory ammo, or if it's just that I'm looking harder for it since I keep finding it.

We need to get over the romance of carrying a 1911 pistol, and get on to the business of shooting smelly bad guys in the face with a modern handgun.

I bought 300 rounds at walmart last week and practiced with it at my departments range before we qualified. I was shooting from 50 yards standing off-hand and kneeling using a Colt 6721. I'm an average shot and found this ammo to be very accurate with no problems whatsoever. It also wasn't as dirty as it normally is after shooting Q3131. If I can get my hands on some more I will do it. At walmart it was 8.67 a box but its all gone for now.

shot around 200 rounds of it. Bought it for 10.95 a box in dayton at a dicks in fairborn when I was there for work. Shot wonderfully in my sabre defense 14.5 m5 tactical. no probs. Shot better than the prvi stuff I had. The prvi had one blown primer, a coulpe dented cases out of 100 rounds. Plus it was dirtier in my weapon. Would buy again if I could find it localy under $9 a box of 20.

Just got back from Day One of an Appleseed shoot. I shot 140 rounds of this ammunition. Zero malfunctions to report and, although I'm not the most accurate shooter, I was definitely making minute-of-redcoat hits the whole day. The ammunition was fired out of a 16" Sabre Defence 1:9 twist midlength.
BTW, this thread is still not listed in the ammo review index. ETA: Day Two of the shoot, I fired 130 more rounds. No issues. Once I got my NPOA down I was shooting itty bitty cloverleafs. Good ammo. |
