Saw on colts web site and a few other sources they are producing this new version of the 9mm carbine. I used to have an A1 style sporter lightweight I really enjoyed and am wondering how these new models compare? With the older versions getting close to twice the cost of the new version I was thinking of picking one up

Buy one, you won't regret it.

It's been a few years since Colt manufactured the AR6951 and they were difficult to find. I looked for at least 2 months until I found one locally. If you're a Colt rollmark collector like I am, you have to have one of these in your collection. I ended up SBR'g mine and adding a Colt 10.5 upper and it's one of my favorite carbines.

Just bought a AR6951 and ran 380 rounds through without issue.
I used a carry handle instead of the magpul buis that it came with.
It only needed 2 clicks of right windage then it was good to go.

One thing though the barrel nut loosened up so I tightened it and
used a short piece of gas tube to lock the barrel nut as well.
I've had 2 AR6450's before and the shortened gas tube works
well on preventing the barrel nut from becoming loose.

That has happened to many people, including me.  That's a good tip on how to keep the barrel nut from becoming loose!
