Considering the cost of the piston systems out there, is anyone trying to make their own piston system?

By the time you factor in the machining required to make precision components, as well as locating sufficient material of the proper composition, the cost of an Adams Arms (or equivalent) piston kit really isn't that onerous.

the old Rhino company conversion was a cheap way; it used a block that replaced the gas key and parts that modified the front gas tube. It worked except the screws kept breaking on the gas key replacement block.
If you have the necessary skills, you can put together a Rhino type conversion for under $30 in parts.
