Any chance you will offer these with a sear trip or Fostech compatible trip?

Not in the foreseeable future.  If demand ends up being high enough, then I'm sure we can make it happen.

I would definitely be in for one.

I put a link to your product in the BumpSAW threads.  We're always looking for reasonably priced light weight BCG options.

Silly question but why do you want a light bolt carrier? What use?

I use them in high cyclic rate semi auto's to ensure no hammer follow failures.

In a machinegun, hammer timing is controlled by the auto sear and immediately drops the hammer as soon as the carrier closes.

In a high cyclic rate semi auto (Such as a BumpSAW or Binary trigger), you can make the trigger release the hammer before the carrier has had time to fully cycle.  My BumpSAW routinely runs ~1000RPM.  That's faster than an M16 rifle (600 to 700RPM) and faster than many M4's (~900RPM).  I use a lightweight carrier and heavy spring so the carrier cycles ~1200RPM and always closes before my finger sets off the trigger.  With a stock carrier I would occasionally get a dead trigger.  The hammer hit the back of the carrier before the carrier closed and didn't have enough force to ignite the primer.

In a binary trigger you also want a fast carrier.  Given a .15 split time, your looking at 450RPM. But in a binary your getting two shots off for every pull, so your up to 900RPM.  Now, get one extremely quick split - say .12, and you just touched 1000RPM.  Most people can pull a few splits in that .15 to .12 range (and Jerry Miculek can hit .10).  So keeping your cycle rate above 1000RPM eliminates problems and lets you keep the machine gun rate of fire without the machine gun parts.

Ordered one late last night. As much as I love my SS JP LMOS in dream build # 2, I want to do a light carrier in dream build #1 but willing to try yours instead of another JP. Looking foward to giving her a whirl.

Thanks for offering this at an increadible value. 9310, 8620, Nitride, MPI... all the key terms that interest me, that's for sure!

Rock on,
Jim

Edit: Oh yeah, the "you break it, we replace it" is certainly a nice touch too.

Cool just bought two. I hope the keys are installed properly, meaning locktite, torque and staked all to spec. AIM LW carriers are notoriously not...

Looks very nice. Looks like my AIM LW at same weight. I'd try one if they're still on sale if I do another LW build soon.

They sold a lot quicker than we thought! Complete lightweight BCG's should be back in stock within 1 week.

If you like, you can purchase the lightweight carrier and the Nitride bolt completion kit. The pending charge will show $114.99 but if you leave the following note in the comment section I'll make sure we only capture $105 + shipping.

This goes for anyone else as well!

I've never used a light bolt carrier and I bought a couple for a long awaiting project.
The build is a 1:12 WOA 16" mid-length gas system (I bought the barrels on sale some time ago). I will be shooting 40gr V-MAX 223 Fiocchi ammo.
Now here are the questions:
(1) I assume I want a gas block to regulate the gas - right? Otherwise I assume the bolt will go supersonic and trash the lower parts.
(2) I will have a standard stock - what do I use for buffer and buffer spring? Standard buffer and lighter spring?
Thanks for your help.

If you want to go real lightweight and will be using an adjustable gas block, I use the Taccom carbine recoil system with their enhanced carbine spring (10% reduced power).  I have this in a lightweight carbine receiver extension from Vseven and the MFT minimalist stock.  You get the adjustable stock at a pretty good lightweight compromise.  It works great for me.  You can go lighter with a fixed stock like from Smoke Composites, and use the Taccom parts as well for a no compromise lightweight solution.

Thank you both for the input:
I am thinking of the following for the standard Rifle stock:

(1) Adjustable Gas block

(2) Buffer: Tacom Ultra lightweight Riffle Buffer  http://www.tacticallink.com/Taccom-Ultra-Lightweight-Rifle-Buffer-for-AR15.html
or the J P ENTERPRISES - AR-15/M16 LOW-MASS RECOIL BUFFER http://www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=cl&pw=55963&ctc=j1nd00se1w00zk8a00y51&mi=10077&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brownells.com%2Frifle-parts%2Freceiver-parts%2Frecoil-parts%2Frecoil-buffers%2Far-15-m16-low-mass-recoil-buffer-prod27116.aspx

(3) Buffer Spring: David Tubb's Lightweight Stainless Steel Buffer spring for AR-15 platforms  http://www.davidtubb.com/ar15-buffer-spring-stainless

Any thoughts if OK to go?

So, is this a slickside carrier, no forward assist serrations? Or does the solid side contain them.  No pic available of the other side.

Yes sir, these do have forward assist serrations on the right side.  The right side isn't completely solid. It has one cutout towards the rear instead of 3 like the left side.

Very cool.  Now I'm really glad I ordered one.  Thanks for the reply.

I am curious. The bolt carrier is covered in a Nitride treatment (nice).
Can I assume the Carrier and Gas Key are not chromed under the treatment?

Customers: if you bought just the carrier - whose bolt are you using?

Buy with confidence from Right to Bear. I've bought quite a few things from them and they're VERY quick to ship. I once had an issue with a nitrided bolt that started to "chip" at the cam pin hole. Rob sent me a new bolt ASAP. Excellent customer service which has me checking their site first anytime I need something.

What cut is that on the carrier, regular semi AR cut, or SP1 (rll compatible) cut?

Oooooh, dat's purdy!

Would be nice to see these in a polished silver too. But truth be told, as they are right now is perfect. And a freak'n steal! As much as I love my JP SS Nitride LMOS carrier, $220 for a bare carrier is pricey. Period.

The RTB's are like take'n candy from a baby. Seriously.

And just an FYI for all..

JP SS Nitride LMOS Carrier, AXTS Nitride 9310 bolt, HydraFire roller cam pin, Ti FP, Mil Spec FP retain  8.68oz
RTB LW 8620 Nitride Carrier w/ 9310 Nitride bolt, HydraFire roller cam pin, Ti FP, Mil Spec FP retain 8.82oz

A SERIOUS BARGAIN Folks.

Nickel seems pretty popular, though nitride is by all means a more durable choice.

Agreed, NiB is a nice finish, but Nitride is King. I'd like to see the finish on these a bit smoother. The best Nitride finished BCG I've had the pleasure of owning believe it or not was an AXTS unit. No complaints though!

Rock on,
Jim

Quick question: does the carrier extend past the base of the gas key to prevent sediment from entering the upper receiver port (behind the carrier on a closed bolt)?

The AIM lightweight bcg leaves a quarter inch void, so I would like to replace it should your product meet this requirement.

Also, would you sell the carrier and key together unassembled (call in) to make it easier to install a RCA adjustable gas key?
