Now that G3 mag lower interests me a great deal..
What kind of minor modifications are necessary to the upper? Bolt carrier modification or removal of material from the upper to allow for the mag? |
I will post some pics soon. The material removed is on the inner edges of the upper receiver to give clearance to wider G3 magazine. Not much needs to be removed. |
Sweet!
Thanks for the info! Be looking forward to to details. I have access to a Machine shop and a good machinist.... |
You guys are SERIOUSLY killing my savings account. I had just started looking into a .308, and now this.
What's the deal with the trigger guard (curved front) on the G3 models? |
Just guessing but it looks like they had to design it that way due to the removal of material from the mag well area to accommodate the way the G3 mags fit. (Maybe?) |
Well I was looking at an M1A for my next rifle, but I think I might start looking into the AR10 again now that I see this new G3 compatable lower. Awsome
So do you guys have any plans for a 308 upper as well to match? Maybe one that will work with the G3 lower? I am afraid to use a dremel on somthing as esential as an upper reciever. |
We are currently developing two uppers to start with. The first is an 18" mid length piston and the 2nd is a 12(or so) mid length piston. These will have forward assist, feed ramps, chrome lining and more. Time frame is iffy but this is the direction we are going.
I will be waiting. Sounds awsome, to look at it on a positive note; at least this "iffy" time frame will give me time to save up. I am a poor college student |
Good show! Most impressive. Can't wait for a whole weapon.
And just when I was perfectly happy with my 308 as it is. You're killing me... |
What triggers will be compatible with these? (I'm probably going to run a Timney AR-10 in it anyway)
::ETA:: Oh.. and dibs on the idea of a 14.5" Pinned Vortex Middy Piston driven AR-10, with LT9" Rail, MagPul furniture, M84L, and MR/T Optic Just priced that setup in my head - ouch, $4200 loaded down, best guess. |
Those are good looking lowers, and they putting smiles on a lot of faces.
any way to get billet lowers for the AR-15 platform? I know a bunch of the guys who wanted the magpul lower would like one.
Shit Hot....
I got in on the TAPCO G3 Madness sale a year or so ago, and have over 100 G3 Magazines, but only 1 PTR-91 to use them with (I know, some people wouldn't see that as a problem). I'm interested!!! |
Looks nice.. but any chance the finger grove might be optional ?
+1 Other than the funky fingerprint, the DPMS mag lower looks outstanding. Eagerly awaiting pricing info... |
Looks nice except for the trigger finger rest or whatever it is on the right side of the magwell. I'm a lefty and don't want that on mine unless it was somehow on both sides. Is that optional?
Very nice - looking forward to some upper/lower pics of the G3 version.

+1 |

no love for the AR10 uppers
It can't be that hard to make a billet lower fit a armalite upper. it would be less milling I will still get the HK lower, but would like to be able to use it with a CL armalite upper good job |
Agreed. I'd love to see a shorty AR-10 lightweight upper using G3 mags. It just...I don't know...appeals to me. |
The last shot bolt hold open is iffy, We will likely need to make a new follower. We are doing some testing to see if it will work.
No reason these can't go to CA(just a little extra red tape these days) |
What do you guy think total cost would be to knock together a full kit to put one of these together?
Very impressive that CMMG keeps innovating new AR products.

Go to their website...You missed it. |
so if i have a Armalite AR10 upper and i buy your DPMS style lower could i use them together????
I think you would need to buy the cmmg "ar10" lower. |
G3 mags, sweet. I don't have a .308 AR yet, this might have to be my first.
A link would be nice. I've checked several times under a variety of seconds and I'm not finding anything. |
