The only thing I have left is to find a couple of notchless safties.

And on to the flawless NDS receivers that made this possible!

Sorry for the poor quality pic. I even had the camera on a tripod. But you can see the quality of the receiver and the rollmarks.

This is more like it.

The work on these receivers are outstanding! Notice the lack of machine marks.

Even on the inside there is only the faintest of machine marks in the bottom. So fine they don't even show up!

Configuration of the rail on the XM16E1 receiver.

Thank you Harold and Mike for making these fine receivers available! You have knocked the ball right out of the park with them. They are the finest aftermarket receiver on the market. I may catch some grief here, but they are as nice as my Colt! And I'm dead serious when I say that.

Thanks again guys! They were well worth the wait!

good job! I like the chrome bolt. I have mine off at metaloy right now. what are the markings on your barrels?

The M16A1 kit came with "C MP Chrome Bore" marked on top the barrel between the front sight base and the flash suppressor. The M & P are run together. There are no markings around the front sight base, and as I recall there are none under the handguards.

The model 604 kit came has a chromed chamber, but not bore, barrel marked only "C MP C" on the bottom of the barrel between the bayo lug and the flash suppressor. There are no markings around the front sight base. The barrel came with a birdcage flash suppressor, this would be correct for the later 604s, but I wanted a 3 prong instead. The front sight base has the forging flash milled off and the front sling swivel uses a roll pin rather than a later rivet. The kit also has the nontrap door buttstock. I picked up the chromed bolt carrier and later the chrome bolt in EE.

The furniture in both kits look like they came of brand spanking new rifles fresh out of the box.

Next build?

I'm not sure.

I"ve got a Stag 6.8SPC lower completed, just need to find the cash to build an upper.

But finishing these two builds freed up three lowers. Two Stags that are molycoated and a Superior that is marked "For Civilian Use Only". I do think I'll SBR that one. Eventually.

Somebody HAD to do the 87. I'm surprised somebody didn't beat me to it.

Is 87 significant?  I used 61 for my rack #'s, because they fit.

You should be shot 87 times for even asking if 87 is significant!

Thank you.

I was lucky in that I had found a couple of kits that came off brand new rifles. The 604 really looks nice. None of the checkering on the pistol grip are flattened. A couple of scuff marks here and there, one of the ears on the front sight base has a shiny spot and there is a minor scratch on the right side of the upper. But in essence this is a 40 year old brand new rifle! It's just amazing.

And the M16A1 kit is just almost as nice, although it is slightly used. There are the typical markings on the underside of the carry handle that the old Colt 3x/4x scope mounts leave. But again the kit is nearly new. The only items I had to refinish were the charging handles and the trigger guards. They got shot with Norrell's Molyresin.

Very Nice. I am about to get Nodaspud lower myself. Not sure which of the three might have to do one of each.
