[Last Edit: Couch-Commando]
I did a search for the Retro picture thread which turned up nothing. Am I just typing in the wrong things? If so, please post a link. Any info is appreciated.
Couch-Commando I've turned this into retro thread 2 but I would still like the origional link. ARFCOM tradition dictates that I should put a link of the old one. |

This section of the forum is my favorite so far. I'm ordering a Bushmaster A1 upper and 16" SuperLight barrel assembly, which style lower should I go with? Partial fence, slick side, full fence A1 style?

That is a DOD acceptance stamping. Was stamped into the side of late M1 Garand and M14 buttstocks. Was white paint stamped on the side of M16 initially and then later to the front of the receiver.
Barrel marked C MP C correct? |
|
|
Correct. The thing was virtually brand new when I received it. The way it looks I doubt it was ever issued. Prolly sat in a box since it was accepted from Colt & never saw the light of day but who knows. To the previous post, ty for the compliment. |

Do you have a drop in auto sear in that gun? I see the selector is in the full auto position. |
|
|
I wish Nah, the selector is an original 601 selector modified to be SAFE-SEMI-SEMI. |

Hi All,
Here's a picture of me from 1974 with my trusty Colt M-16 A1. I was in basic training in the Israeli army at the time and these new plastic rifles were the 'Cat's Ass'!! Nothing to clean them and light as a feather. We carried 300 rounds of 5.56 and a rifleman laying down cover fire could control any area like a God of War!!! I don't care what the armchair commandos say about this rifle, I never had a jam, no matter what kind of crud I crawled through, and the fact that it never balked no matter what I did to it, was a testimony to it's wonderful design. Awesome F**king gun !! http://i526.photobucket.com/albums/cc350/frogman13_album/SCAN0070.jpg Frogman |

Good to hear positive real feedback. I have had just a few jams. both with A2 and M4. Not many and I believe it was from reloaded ammo (All GI). I like my M4 and just wish I still could have a 653 or 654. So much lighter. Did you get to USE your M16A1? |

That's a DAS stamp on the front magwell and very desirable. |

When I was in the Army, I was with the 63d Signal Battalion and we had M-16A1s. And when I got out in '91, I purchased an old Olympic Arms AR-15 for $550. It had a black lower and the upper had the old gray finish. A couple years ago I traded in the upper for an upper with a black finish. And now that NoDak put out a line of A1 lowers with the black finish, I have an AR just like the M-16A1 I had.

Upon arriving at my BCT unit at Ft. Lewis in 1970 (E-1-2) I was issued a G-M Hydro-Matic M-16E1 that served my quite well during my 8 weeks of training. Fired Expert in falling snow with that little honey.
Wish I still had it. |

Thanks!
It is all Colt down to the Moderator, save the KNS pins. As there are no 10" lightweight barrels to be found I had 45Bravo cut down an 11.5 for it. |
