Yes, 3 colors if I remember right. Rust-O-Leum Deep Forest Green went down first followed by alternating Khaki and Flat Brown. I used leaves, etc. from my backyard to create the silhouette look. The upper receiver is Aero Precision with a cheap Aimsports handguard. This was a parts bin build.

The grip is actually a Daniel Defense.

PS the materials are substantially different, between the SBA4 and the SBM4, if you were curious; even the 'rubber' section on the SBA4 is harder than the SBM4 rubber. It's different material altogether.
You have, in the upper section of the brace - that you would cheek-weld - a very sturdy, hard plastic - like a stock. And the theoretically more flexible part is however and unexpectedly (and very pleasantly!) sturdier than rubber.

It ain't rubber in fact. It flexes, but it ain't rubber. Love it.
It is rubber; it must be. It's just reformulated, harder rubber. Harder to flex - more appropriate for its scope here.

Cannot tell a lie. Sort of want

Pic thread - crummy pictures due to falling darkness last night as I finished up, but this is my newly painted and mostly complete 6.5G.  Just need my suppressor mount muzzle brake and new grip and we'll be in business.

Little better pic here.

^ That's a really cool pistol.

Meanwhile, wanted to take a different angle at this build with the SBA4 (I had been waiting for a long time for the SBA4, as I wanted this build to resemble as much as possible DeNiro's Heat 733. Original Colt 11.5 barrel and vintage handguards, pistol grip. Windham upper, Colt BCG. The SBA4 is so far the only brace I accept on this build, other than the original Colt N Stock which I can't have here in Commieformia)

I gotta say Dallas I agree with you that the SBA4 looks best on the M4gery/CAR15 pistols if your not wanting to SBR.  I'll pick one up and do a Commando "pistol" of my own eventually.

Call it anything you want, but the shorter the barrel, the less likely all the powder will be burned.

An example,, the AMD-65(12.5inch) & AMD-63(16inch?) barrel firing at dusk.

Most hi-speed types have given up on "flash" suppressors and now use functioning cans to preserve night vision.

I know all about them AMD clone fireballs lol.

For the AR pistol adding Dead Air's Pyro device gave my AMD  clone a run for it's money in the broad daylight fireball category

Sadly I don't have any videos or photos of either of those in action.  One of these days I need to remedy that. Even with Dead Air's Sandman K suppressor on that 10.5in barrel in 5.56 it still spits a good bit of flame.

Just got the SBA4's in. One is on an 11.5" with a urx2 and the other is on a 14" 308. The SBA3 was just to small on them and looked funny. The sba4 is really tight but works like it's supposed to.

I'm glad there is such a wide variety of braces available these days.

I love the variety of braces I see. Quick questions, are they all set-screwed stationary or are they adjustable like a six-position stock? If I can't find a style brace I like, does that mean I must use a cushioned buffer tube or can I install a stock in a locked position (or does that make the pistol now an SBR)?

Please don't 'lock' a stock in place on a pistol build. For your own sake.

To add, some stay put like the original Shockwave Blade, but most adjust like stocks. Yes, a tube is the other option if you don't like a brace. Between the SB offerings and the Tailhook Mod 2, there should be something that looks better to you than a cushioned aluminum tube.

Edit - picture thread.

I think price and the fact it uses a proprietary tube unlike the SBA3 have been the main issues. I got it for $130 at Brownells when it was usually going for $150. Looks like it sold out at $130. I'd expect to see more as it gets closer to the $100 range. I really like it.

I just bought 2 sba4's for $99 each, which are adjustable, use and come with a mil spec buffer tube, and look better imo than the tailhook.

I agree with the other poster that you'd probably see more of them if their price point was lower or if they used regular tubes.

PSA sells SBA3s.

I grabbed a spare TH mod 2 for about a c note a while back. They are top shelf braces, and buffer tube not withstanding they're just better than SBA3 IMO.
