Me want, mind sharing how much for the setup?

$400 for the barrel, gas tube, gas block, modified mag & mag block.
$260 for the Daniels Defense Omega rails
$80 for the flip up sights
$75 for the Yankee Hill QD Phantom flash suppressor/can mount.
$80 for the slab side DPMS flat top upper
$80 for Model 1 Sales 5.45x39 bolt
$125 for Tin plated bolt carrier
$100 for the Aero Precision lower
$140 for the Magpul CTR stock and tube, spring & buffer
$70 for DPMS lower internal parts kit
$30 for KNS pins
$90 for PRI gas buster charging handle
$36 for CAA adjustable grip
$80 for red dot sight
$1640 total for the whole thing top to bottom

I could have cut out some stuff to cheapen it up but all my AR's are built the same, except for the flat top upper. I thought this one looked better with the slab side.

Oops forgot $200 for the NFA Stamp and $600 for the Yankee QD can

You can keep your AR-57 uppers - I'll definitely consider a 7.62x25 upper if they bring one out with a 14.7" barrel and fixed FH (16" total) that comes close to the same prices as a regular AR15 upper.

Which mags does the 7.62x25 upper use, 41 or 43?

I searched and found Pps43....thanks.

took my out yesterday for the first time at our Aim labor day shoot.    She was the most popular girl at the event!  only shot new  Prvi ammo since Aim was paying but 150rds, no problems.  REALLY SHOCKED at the lack of recoil.   it made a 9mm AR15 feel like a .308.   need to send the rest of my mags to Mr Williams for the mod.

here is one of the guys with it

Hey Bryan, glad your happy with the upper. I like to test every upper before I ship. Sometimes they need a breakin period. I put 3 magfulls through it without one issue.
Thanks for the support

Look for a feature article on the gun Ron Williams built for me in the
9/20 (subscribers, news stand date is slightly later) issue of Shotgun News.
Should be out shortly...

ya know, we tried telling folks, but we got answers like "9mm recoil is nil in blowback" etc.  Once you shoot these pistol calibers in gas mode, you become a believer.

I feel somewhat bad for the folks at Kriss, their design is fantastic and as an engineer I sit and marvel at the mechanical aspects.  But gas operated AR based pistol calibers do as much to remove recoil (if not more), while maintaining ALL the muscle memory, ergonomics, etc...

Hey Marty

Can you build a 9mm luger gas gun?? is it possible

most efforts to date have not been successful with factory ammo - Ron and Mike (MGP) have worked on it as well.  I think part of the issue is the powder used in the factory ammo - intended to burn within 3.7" of pistol barrel, the pressure profile does not work well for standard AR gas systems.  To make it work, would require some alterations.  It CAN be done, but it would not be a TYPICAL gas operated AR.  I have a DI 9mm and it is close... but not quite there.  I need to test one or two odd things to see how those would work...

Why does the Tok work so much better??

Bigger case - more powder, squeezed into a smaller bore - the pressure profile is different, but note that some of the surplus has some ultra fast powder and does not do the DI system any favors - this is why the modern S&B will run with a standard pistol gas system and the surplus requires custom gas systems...

Gotcha

I am not very familiar with the tok. For some reason I thought it was less powerful than 9mm luger.

When the cartridge concept - brass case with primer, containing powder, topped with bullet - was first translated to handguns, one of the very first rounds was the 9mm Borchardt.  Mr B talked to the Mauser boys and they made the famed Broomhandle in said caliber, but it was deemed too much.  So they necked it to .30 cal, creating the .30 Mauser.  Somewhere Mr. Tokarev must have seen one of these, because the .30 Mauser and the 7.62x25 Tokarev are virtually identical.  The Germans felt .30 Mauser was too much still and shortened it, to create the .30 Luger.  That, however, was deemed not enough and they necked it out back to straight wall - 9mm Luger.  And now you know the rest of the story

Can I get any information?

This takes '43 mags?
Can it take the drum?
How much is the upper?

How does the mag release work, can you do quick mag changes?

By the way, they look great. I like the 7.62x25 round too.

Received my 2 uppers with magblocks and 22 mags today. The guys at my office were envious to say the least. Photo updates to come as the other parts filter in. Range report to follow Appleseed shoot October 10/11. Not that I could really pull them out and fondle them at the office, but they looked good from a quick peek in the boxes.

Thanks, this was one of the most enjoyable articles I've written in a long time. My money was very well spent and Ron did a great job.
I just need to stay ahead of the curve and stock my 7.62x25mm away!

Ron is a great guy to do business with. i bought a 8 inch 7.62X25 upper that Ron built from another person on the EE and it didnt run right so i contacted Ron and he had me send it to him and did some mods and now it runs great. he was a great help even though i did not originally buy it from him. Buy from Ron with confidence.

I have an upper currently on order from Ron but have a question on ammo.  I have four tins of the Polish surplus from the 1950s.  Is this stuff good for this upper?  What about the Bulgarian - it appears very scarce now?  Or the Romanian ?  Any experience?  Any concerns or just load the mags - have fun - and then clean?

Any tips on cleaning after using corrosive ammo?

Thanks!  I can't wait - this is like waiting for my Red Ryderr all those years ago!!!

polish is fine & so is the romy. The bulgarian can cause issues. It can be all over the place on OAL. It can cause isses chambering/extracting.
Clean normaly with hops#9. they sell it at wallyworld.

I had been looking at a group starting to do conversions on AK's but theirs is blowback.

Also with this set-up you can swap to 5.45 and use the same bolt .
