Branching off from the normal Recce Rifle Thread for just legit clones. These have the most varying setups of all the clones, I believe. There is no hard data listed for every piece of equipment on these rifles. Only ITW photo's and some small lists of procurement from NSW. I have outlined the parts used most commonly but there are plenty of versions that are not covered in this list. The ITW one off photos of an already one off setup can be cloned using the parts visible in the photo!
There are 5 major types of these clones. All are built on Colt receivers except the 416 variant. I bet if you flexed the barrel down, It'll contact. |

Yeah I just mocked it up quick. It’s close. That’s a standard mk12 gas block. Was really hard to get a picture

Could anyone give me the measurement for the height of an NXS top turret? I’m trying to get some benchmark data for comparisons for how a piggybacked T2 will work with other scopes, since it looks to be about half covered up by the Nightforce turret. Also, any input on how well the piggybacked T2 works overall would be appreciated, thanks!

I have decided to do a clone of this carbine since I have the MRE rail and the PEQ-2.
Is there a back-up iron sight on this? I can't tell when I enlarge the photo. The light appears to be a Surefire 660. Does anyone know definitively? Attached File Lastly, are there any good links for more information on the operator? I always like to learn about the person. Thank you in advance. |

Every other clearer Delta MRE pic I’ve seen shows a 660 with the distinct shock isolating bezel. This rifle appears to have a 660 as well. There’s a another pic of that guy: Might be him as well from a different deployment with slightly different rifle setup? |

Anyone have a lead on 1” KAC rings for a Renner clone? Is there anything on the market that looks similar?

The other angles make the can look like it's part of the lam so I could see why it looks like that device. |

Got it into its final form. Was able to get a RAS from the new production batch that came out recently, which allowed me to stop stealing parts off my mod 1 and make this into a permanent build.
Hoping to get some range time with it later this week. It feels really good so far. Have some IMI razor core and some AAC 77gr OTM I’m gonna feed it. Attached File |

Got an LBT AOR1 sling on the way. Debating the contour. Even though in some photos it's not on the rifle. A small percentage of me wants to clone the multicam rattle can but I really don't like it. Looking to do an OG Recee and want to see if some parts can play together. I have Medium RAS, Leupold Vari-x 3-9, Colt AF upper, and contract 249F.
I just read through the whole thread so I guess my two questions are: Is the Lilja the only known stainless 16ish barrel used? I have been told a number of match M4 barrels made their way onto these rifles, to eventually include Lilja. I don't know specifics for what other manufacturers were involved. If not explicitly correct, would the Douglas or Bison recon profile 16" barrels seem spiritually correct? Second more general question, as I don't want to be another Buzz Lightyear on the wall doing a Renner clone, does the combination of a true 16" match bbl, medium ras, vari-x and 249f seem plausible? Without bringing out my calipers...the group pic with two tall turret leupolds in it seems like one of the FHs is longer than a NT4. |

View Quote So back on page 56 this rifle was posted saying it's the new standard among NSWDG with clearly undertone of insider knowledge. Not much was thought of it but allot of it has come to light (i.e. the dead air cans) Attached File Of course he dipped and never posted again after only making 4 posts on arfcom lol. This was around 2019 time frame which is the same as the above photo (and below): Attached File Attached File Additionally, this rifle has been sitting in the back ground of a well circulated photo of the Noveske navy. Attached File As you can see these rifles are pretty similar in features and it's my belief these two rifles were the next evolution of the "recce". The most interesting aspect of the shorty is the barrel profile. |

the thing that puzzles me is the odd muzzle device. Is it even a muzzle device or is it a taped bare muzzle?

I'm going to go with maybe a trial gun/upper(s) scenario for the midwest stuff we've been seeing around the 2019-2020 timeframe. I think GBRS mentioned in a video that they had trialed .300 blackout wilson combat stuff, though no pics have ever made it out. And we know they trialed AAC uppers and full guns in the late 2010's. So I'm guessing they trialed a lot of shit while they were waiting for something to tick all the boxes needed to replace the 416. That being said, I definitely think that trial guns still get used even after a new gun is selected. "If it ain't broke" mentality. All conjecture of course.

Unit RECCE's w/KAC MRE rail.
Is there any difference between The Unit RECCE Team Sniper guys MRE rail equipped guns verses regular Assaulters who choose to use a Colt M4/S&B Short Dot 1-4x optics/KAC MRE rail as well? We can see almost entire Assault teams using MRE rails. Some with Short Dots, others with EoTech's, even a few photos with Leupolds. We also know the original idea for the KAC MRE rail "More Real Estate" was for more room for accessories with enough room to grip the weapon farther out for recoil control. Not necessarily for RECCE Team Snipers. I have seen photos pre-MRE rail of verified RECCE Unit Snipers using the old carbon fiber KAC/Armalite rails. Did RECCE Snipers get better barrels? Anything we know of? This was long before Geissele so safe bet says they used mostly KAC Match 2-Stage triggers even in Assaulter guns. |

View Quote i might be misremembering because this was a long time ago, like ten years or so, but i think one of the KAC people here once mentioned that back in the day KAC advised that the unit spend their time and money on finding good match ammo to run from factory barrels, rather than messing with match barrels like dev was doing. |
