Larue handstops are the right price, and they index perfectly at the 9 o clock position. NIce stick. I looked at the Larue but i dont like how you have to lock them in place with index clips or rail covers, i like how the gear sectors have a crss bolt. What didnt you like abot the gear sectors? was it the feel of them? |

Jason still one of the coolest rifles on arfcom hands down, imho |

I looked at the Larue but i dont like how you have to lock them in place with index clips or rail covers, i like how the gear sectors have a crss bolt. What didnt you like abot the gear sectors? was it the feel of them? Yeah.. it was the feel mostly.. i mean the way they are shaped doesn't really like grip the web of your hand when driving forward. The slightly hooked shape of the Larue's do that much better.. I WANTED to like the Gear Sectors.. because they are really effin sturdy.. and really beautiful (as evidenced by that beast of a heater Jason just posted.) but they just didn't work for me. Once the Larue's are on they aren't going anywhere though... I do agree that i wish they had an alternative locking mechanism. Especially since in order for my hand to grip correctly on my VLTOR CASV I had to put extra rails on with index clips where my hand grips. (You see all of those rails covered with IC's?) Yeah that just adds weight to the setup that i don't need... but my rifle is balanced perfectly so i guess i don't really notice. Im working on a similar problem with my VTAC extreme rail on my other setup now.... its amazing how such a simple concept like handstops can be so difficult to do right. |

Gear Sector handstop and offset light mount on my duty weapon. This works perfectly for me, otherwise it wouldn't be on my duty carbine..... http://stickman.rainierarms.com/galleries/Gear%20Sector/868W1399-1500-Stick.jpg Stick do you have any pics of the whole rifle or any other pics with gear sector handstops? Thanks |

I also have of some of the hand stops by Mount-N-Slot for use on the MOE handguards. They're reall great. I have no pictures yet, I'll try to get some. Great pics! |

Let me ask this to guys running handstops, do you prefer the feel of the hand stop/rail to say an AFG?

Let me ask this to guys running handstops, do you prefer the feel of the hand stop/rail to say an AFG? defintely... the AFG requires a certain set grip that you have to train with... its a theory based product and if you aren't doing the "theory" of it.. then it really isn't going to give you all of the support and comfort that using handstops do. I have tried to do the AVG grip style... it just doesn't feel right for me. Although i could possibly see the AVG being more comfortable used in conjunction with a handstop at the 9 o clock position... that would give you the "push pull" with positive feedback in both directions. I used to use 2 larue handstops in this manner... i just switched to a single one after i stopped using a quad rail and went to the customizable rail. |

This is excellent feedback! I think I may grab a gear sector in FDE!

You can use hand stops to push against.
You can use hand stops to pull back on. You can use use them to ensure that your hand is in the exact same place every time. You can use more than one at a time. It really is a personal preference thing. Look at Jason's SBR. Its a perfect example of setting up the gun so it works for him. Some like a VFG. I do. On some things, for some things. Some like the AFG. I don't. Just can't make it work for me. Some like hand stops. For what I do, on three of my guns, they are the best solution to get the gun to do what I want it to do. |

I could see it on SBR but not on carbines 14.5 /16.1 A lot of it depends on your shooting style. |

Are there any handstops that will fit on the standard AR handguards? I haven't tried them on regular handguards. I'm not sure how well they'd work. I'll try one later and see. I have two, on MOE handguards and they work great. |

Early on the hand stops were used on shorter barrels to keep you hand off the front of the barrel. Lots of folks run them on eth longer carbines for a reference on hand position. Makes for a fast grip and shoot set up. Same spot, damn near same grip every time. |

Ok, I understand the repeat-ability factor, but some photos, like Stick's, have the handstock kinda close to the end of the rail...do you have enough roon to fit your hand beyond it or do you rest your hand up against it from the side closer to the stock? |

I can't speak directly for Stick, but many people prefer to straddle the handstop with their index finger in front of and the remaining digits behind it. |
