I know alot of you bought the the DSA uppers ........ now lets see what you did with them. This is my personal rifle, I'll post pics later of the other three I bought for my sons.

Three more DSA uppers; these are builds I did for my three sons.
DSA nitride uppers YHM lower RRA BCG(2) DPMS BCG(1) DPMS LPK Spikes forged CH UTG stock(2) Pardue stock(1) UTG buis(2) Osprey 3x9 IR tacticle w/YHM 0.5" riser 
These rifles shoot very well and function flawlessly so far; they were done on the cheap and give the boys an option to upgrade components as the get proficient with them. |

Here's what I did with mine.
This was the nitrided DSA upper with the anodized m4 feed ramps and double heat shield HGs. Magpul MOE stock and PG. Mil spec buffer tube and carbine buffer/spring. Smith Enterprises LPK in a Charles Daley lower. RRA forged charging handle. BCG from a local Dealer. I moly resin'd it over the park to slick it up. Tijicon Amber dot scope. GI issue type rear BUIS. Repop Israeli sling from a guy on the AK Forum. I love it set up like this. An excellent KISS carbine. More accurate than I am. 300 flawless rounds through it now. Not picky. Eats all ammo. Taking it to a 100 yard range next Friday! Pics:

Just got my DSA Nitride upper today,at 10:09 and slapped it on my DPMS lower.This thing is absolutely perfect,both in finish and fondleability.the color matched perfectly to the lower.I am going to go retro with a pencil barrel,A1 upper,4.5" sionics unit and some colt mags,can we say XM177.woo hoo..

Well my DSA upper came in last night and I slapped it on a TTI lower I had. I ordered it on 10/27 and got it 11/11. I quess they are catching up. Mine is a nitrided version that came with single shield handguards. I'm happy to see the anodizing wasn't cut off the feed ramps and they line up very well. I was able to get to the range this morning at work in the pouring down rain to get the matech sighted in. 1 click down in elevation and 2 clicks right for windage and she is dead on at 50 yards. I was shooting 55gr Federal V shock. The target is the 4 inch silouette from the left corner of our qualification targets. The group was 10 rounds fired from 50 yards in 20 mph winds and rain while seated on the ground (got to love rain pants). I've got some FDE stuff I'll put on later. I'm very pleased after 60 rounds down range. David

Took my rifle to the range today with my boys. All the rifles, again, functioned flawlessly. The boys had a great time and managed a few 10 rings
Sited my Burris 1.5x scout scope in using Centurion M193. All shots were fired from the bench at 50 yds using NRA 100yd small bore targets. I need just a little more eye relief; will probably ad the magpul extended butt pad at some point to the UBR. Spent eight rounds getting it to hit the 10 ring. Then I fired 12 rounds rapid fire; all rounds hitting the 9 and 10 rings a little low and right. Those shots are pictured with the tape covering them. The final 10 shot group pictured, were slow fired from the bench. The top four shots were 1-4 string; three in the 10 ring and one on the X/10 ring line. The 3 lower left shots in the 10 ring, were fired using a different hand hold to steady the rifle. It made me tip the barrel downward when squeezing the trigger. I felt less in control so I went to my previous hand hold for the last 3 shots. Shot number 8 is to the right on the line between the X/10 ring. I moved my point of aim slightly to the right because I noticed I was grouping a little left. I need to adjust my scope a couple clicks right, I'll do that on my next trip to the range. Last 2 shots were using my original hand hold as well; they landed in the X ring(7 o'clock) and left(9 o'clock), just touching the X/10 ring line. Next trip to the range will be some time this week. I should have it dialed in grouping tight at 12 o'clock on the X/10 border. This rifle shoots well and is very capable of sub moa; particularly if the barrel were to be free floated and handloads or match ammo were used. I am very pleased to say the least.

I got my FDE furniture put on today. I ditched the UTG quad rail and got a MOE handguard. I think I'm done with rails since I only mount a flashlight. I got a 3 moa SPOT and put about 120 rounds down range last week. If the SPOT holds up like others have posted, I will have found my ultimate under $200 red dot. David

If you are just going to mount a light you might consider a bayonet rail adapter. I just put a BLAM1-A from CDP. Blends well with the MOE and can be used as a mount for a VFG. EE(Hard Coat) stripped lower - 105 DPMS Lower parts kit - 50 DSA buffer tube assembly and stock complete - 50 DSA BCG - 110 DSA CH 18 Hogue Grip - 13 TOTAL - 621.00 I wanted to see how inexpensivly I could build one with the best budget parts I could find.

I returned this upper due to a canted FSB. They sent me a new one (aligned FSB) with anodized ramps. I thought both looked adequate.

A few updates, magpul handguards and trigger guard, and finally got my BCG and CH in. Also got my MI gas block/front sight tower to be installed soon and red dot to follow.

Any pix of the Parked uppers?
I looked at a ZM-4 today at the gunshop and it was a Parked version which did look kind of green. The FSB was canted on it. $1025 for a 16" CM M4 with a canted FSB, not >this guy<. I have a spare MI T12 rail laying around, I should get the parked upper for a budget RECCE build (who cares if the low profile gas block is canted?) |

Wish the park would ship quicker :( I ordered the Nitried upper on 11/22 they kept saying it will ship tomorrow..so after a while I figure I am going to change it to the park Upper..since they said that would ship much sooner. I did that last Monday. So then the girl told me it will Def go out Monday for me..I call today and now this guy tells me later this week. |
