I am aware of the Vltor CASV rail being used, but my understanding is that while they are 10.3/10.5" barreled uppers, they were not considered actual MK18s.

The Navy armorer I spoke with said that as far as he knew they came from Crane as MK18's then had the handguards changed out. I have no firsthand on this one and was going soley off of that statment. I never thought to ask if they were receiver marked MK18 though. Regardless of the EOD guns coming from Crane in the as-issued state I tend to define MK18/CQBR as any 10.3-10.5" configuration that was standard issued. I know some would disagree but that's how I look at it.

These EOD rigs are observed with A1 lowers, suggesting that they are may be Crane-marked Mk18s.  http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3030/2616969739_6a4b989bfd.jpg

There's a lot of non standard stuff on those rigs. Vltor and Old school Magpul stock, full length ARMS (?) riser, ambi SP Sling mount. I can't really tell but it looks like the guy in the rear has his finger on the trigger. Could be an illusion.

I do not see the ARMS rail...I think you are seeing part of the Vltor rail and a flip up rear sight.

Just wanted to say that this thread is brutal on those of us who are waiting on their 10.5's to be approved... Sucks paying for rifles and then having to wait months before they are actually yours! Thanks to Stickman and others for giving me porn that makes it just a bit easier...

Already have one FDE DD Mk rail bought and I am really looking forward to theses projects.  It will be worth the wait I am sure...

Very nice! That is what one of the ones I am building will look like except I am thinking of keeping most of it black. I am going with a T1 and the 212a on mine also. The other will be all black and I will probably just go with one of Centurians uppers and Hk style sights. The other upper will be old school as pictured below....

This is how mine are starting out: Factory LMT 10.5 SBR's

LMT is a great gun. How long have you been waiting for your F4? I may go black with mine, I'm not sure yet. The rail is the DD brown so I thought I'd start off brown/Tan.

They (I bought two because the price was to good to pass on) should ship to my class 3 this week I assume (not sure why they have to wait 3 weeks to ship from class 3 dealer to class 3 dealer but I guess thats part of the game... SOT something or other) then I have to do all the NFA forms Sheriff sign off and then two checks for two stamps.... My guess is I am still looking at 3-4 months hopefully less but I'm not counting on it. My Sheriff will do everything for me the day I bring her the forms including prints and photo so at least thats a positive that I wont have a wait on that end...

Any tips other than start assembling the parts needed for the MOD 1 conversions?

I will say from someone who owns and has owned a lot of firearms that this is the first time in a very long time that I am truly stoked about a couple rifles. I just want everything ready to roll for a couple Vickers classes I plan on running them in.

No I haven't, send me a link to what your referring to and I'll check it out.  The secondary hook will definitely come disengaged while mounted on the RSA if you don't use the lock.

That was my understanding as well.

d90king, even though your LE will sign off, if you're planning on getting more NFA than just those 2 LMTs I'd recommend a trust. It really does same some hassle.

Thanks, I have been hearing that and might just do that. I am thinking of putting all my firearms in it. It does sound like the way to go. The Sheriff is a friend but you never know how long she will be in office! Thanks again for the advice as I am new  to all this NFA stuff....

d90king the reason for the delay is that lmt has to fill out a form 3 which is a tax free transfer and get permission from the atf to send the guns to your c3 dealer. From my experience this takes a month or two including shipping. Usually is around a month.

When I ordered my Gemtech Halo it took a month to the day from when I ordered it until it showed up at my dealer. Took another 90 some days for the form 4 to go through to get it in my hands.

I haven't shot the mini on this upper but I have a good amount of rounds on through it using a 10.5" MRP. The mini has been a very pleasant surprise. A friend has a 556K and frankly speaking, there isn't a lot of difference to the ears. I had an M4 2K and although I didn't get a chance to directly compare, I have noticed that blowback is less as well as POI shift.

Me and a friend modified the LT660. I liked the HK416 mount because of the holes but wanted to have a lower 3rd cowitness so me and a buddy put it on his milling machine and made the best of both worlds. Thanks for noticing.

Can anyone help me out?

I have a PEQ15 on the top rail.  I want to mount an offset Vampire scoutlight so its at the 1-2 o'clock position next to the PEQ.  No mount I have found so far will let me clear the PEQ.  Anyone have any ideas?

I want this sort of setup, but the light up top, to the side of the PEQ15.  Must place the Vampire in a location where the IR and VIS laser clear the head of the Surefire.

Postal,
Your best bet may be to mount the PEQ on the left rail and the light up top......
I'm not sure there is a mount that will mount the light up top along with the PEQ.

the old scoutlight mount from SF would do the job since it's adjustable... not the best mount out there I know
ETA: I have one of those M76 mount that I'd like to replace with something else, LMK if you want it

:EDIT: The KM2 head wouldn't allow your peq to function i would imagine if you did that. Heres what i recommended: Reinstall the factory Surefire mount and get a Yankee hill Machine 45 degree Offset Mount. It will put the light offset and allow the pew a clear path to function.

I've run rifle matches and hit steel targets at >200 yards with the 4MOA aimpoint - no problem.

Muzzle velocity on a 10.5" barrel is much lower than a 16" - but it's not designed as a Designated Marksman Rifle - it's for CQB.
