Always been curious about the different color tape.  I have seen green and red and now blue.  What do they mean?  Units? Squad level?

High Regards,
Sean

The picture was taken back in Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry. The colored tape was for so you can tell which weapons belonged to what platoon. For us Blue was 1st PLT, Green was 2nd and Red was 3rd. We didnt have weapons cards or anything like that like you would in your unit because it would be less of a hassle if someone lost them so this is how we made things easier when we drew weapons out every day or when we picked our weapons from a stack.

Thank you.  That makes sense.  I kinda thought so.  I saw the same thing in pictures with units in Fallujah.  Is it like a duct tape or electrical tape?  Also..I would like to say thank you for your service!  Semper Fi and keep your powder dry.

High Regards,
Sean

Its electrical tape

Just ordered my Bravo Company 20" upper! Unfortunately, I am going to have to castrate my bayonet lug and permanently attach a compensator (the PWS FSC556 is excellent, so I am not too upset about this part) before it can sit on top of my Bushmaster lower.

You need to throw that A1 upper on a NoDak lower.

You're welcome. It looks great!

I don't know if you remember or not, but I IM'd you a while back asking about your sling, and now, mine wears the same exact sling. I hope to get pictures of it tomorrow.

Finally putting up my pics of my A4 that I built.  She is my baby.  I still need the ACOG though.  Just can't afford one.  Let me know what you guys think.

All the furniture is bring back from my buddy who served in Ramadi.

1. upper is a cerro forge.  I missed the oportunity on GB to get an FN A4 upper.
2. lower is Sabre Defense (I credit you Plinkr for helping me with that!)
3. Barrel is an 03 dated FNMI.  That is why I'm looking for a TA31F ACOG.  Early issue
4. Sight/Handle is Cardinal Forge
5. LPK is FN minus the FA group

Thanks to all who answered my questions knowingly and unknowingly.

High Regards,
Sean

I can't really say I like the A4.
There are lighter, better, cheaper, free float rail systems.  There are better barrel configurations, etc.

However I just feel wrong when I don't have an A4.

It is heavy but the balance is great and the abilty to hit targets with ease out to 400 yards (as far as I have run my a4) is really great.

I deeply enjoy this rifle set up.

Yea, going back to the RAS.

Even though the DD M4 RIS II freefloats the barrel, weights less, and still retains the ability to take a M203, it just didn't feel right to me.

Still gotta pull the Colt CS stock off and put an A2 on.  Gonna set the CS stock aside for a different project.
Going to put a different barrel on the upper with the black RIS II, and sell the BCM A4 barrel on it.
That way I'll have a nifty carbine and a proper A4 upper.

Picking up mine from the smith today! Had to get the bayo lug cut off and a compensator permanently fixed, as I live in a ban state. Will post pictures later today.

I gotta say, I'm with you 100% on this one... I still can't figure out what the A4 does particularly well that another configuration doesn't do better, but dammit, I gotta have one!

Actually, there is one thing so far it's excelled at, M261 host with subsonics and suppressor, I think I've heard airsoft guns that were louder!

She is complete! Well, complete until I can afford an ACOG, anyway.

My M16A4 Clone:
Bushmaster XM15 DCM lower receiver
BCM 20" Government Profile upper
BCM Carry Handle
BCM BCG
Knights Armament M5 RAS

The muzzle with A2-style compensator, made my Jojo's Gunworks in Southington, Ct. They also removed the bayonet lug for me.

I can't make up my mind about my RAS (seen on page 3).  Sometimes I put it on when a go to the range or definitely out to the desert to shoot.  Mainly for the bipod.  Then, when I get home I put the plastic handguards back on.  Rails are useful, but the plastics looks and feels better... to me.

I happen to live in a state like yours also. How much did that A2 muzzle brake cost? It looks great! I would do one thing differently by taking off just the wings of the bayo lug, not the entire thing. Here is a pic of how it looks this way. bayo lug removed (scroll to bottom of page)

Bump to keep the pics coming guys

I'm hoping to get home in the next month to put my A4 clone together.  Has anyone used the Sabre A4 barrel?  That's what I picked up a year or two ago for my build.  I came across a post about a canted FSB, and was wondering if this was a trend.

I have a factory A2 stocked LMT lower and am going to use an LMT flat top upper and carry handle I have, along with their FA BCG.  I just got the KAC M5 RAS from CDNN today.  Can't wait to put it together!

would  make it easier to use with a lot of gear or thick clothing on. especially using a ACOG.  Im sure some will whine that it looks bad.  but  looks  take a back seat to usefulness

I kinda like it

colt came up with a similar offering around the time they  started talking about  a differnt stock for the A4

You can store all kinds of spare parts/oil/cleaning supplies in the A2 stock. I have batteries for my fiances holosight in my A2stock. She has nowhere to put them with that damned tactical slider deal.

I hate it when people start ruining with perfectly beautiful machines.  That stock is damed ugly!!  Why can't they just leave things alone?
