This is from Shooting Industry Magazine, July 2006.  AR-15 production has increased over previous years.

Some of those companies dont make AR15s like remington,thompsoncenter,ruger.Bushmasters numbers though are up..they are making 10 to 12 thousand more than their 30 to 35 thousand average.For Colt I think the number is misleading,are there numbers civilian and military contract combined?if its military contract they ought to have included FN,althogh FN should have been included anyway as they make shotguns for the civilian market as well..Numbers though for rifles in general are amazing though.If they specificalymeant AR production they should have isolated those comapnies.

I added up these manufacturers for ARs

I got 157,348

although some of these companies make .308 AR10 types,AKs and FALs
I didnt add in S&W as they werent making them then plus all the companies that make lowers Im sure AR numbers are much higher than ever.

ETA: ChromeLined those Colt numbers exclude all military rifles. Colt produces some 6,500-7,000 M4's each month

Impresive numbers

These numbers were in 2004. I'm almost positive that production has significantly increased since then. My Stag was purchased in September of 05 and the serial number is in the 6000 range! Since stag sequentially numbers their lowers they must have produced at least 4000 lowers in 05 and probably a lot more since then.
