I was at the public shooting range today (Bald Mountain state park in MI) and I noticed a guy several benches down that was shooting an AR-15 with a MAGPUL PRS stock, LaRue free foat tube and a Leupold scope.  Which one of you guys was it?

The PRS looks really good.  I'm just having a hard time with dropping $250+ on a stock.  It would/will go real nice with my 20" build.

Great gun btw.

You can get them apexmtn.com for like 219.00, He is a great guy to deal with.

The MAGPUL PRS is working out  nicely on My Ultimate RECCE.

The RECCE pictured above is based on a scaled down version of My Ultimate AR.  I wanted something a little lighter and more compact than my Ultimate AR, yet still capable of pin-point accuracy within a relatively shorter range compared to My Ultimate AR.

This RECCE is built around a Krieger 16.5" stainless steel HBAR with a 1:9" twist. It has a KAC mid-length free float tube, KAC flip-up front sight and GG&G BUIS. It sports the same Magpul PRS as My Ultimate AR as well as the JP Enterprises single stage trigger. Upper and lower receivers are Colt. The crowning jewel in this rig is the Leupold 1.5-5X20mm MR/T scope with the M2 turrets. I am really liking this scope for this application. This RECCE balances extremely well and weighs in at 10.25 lbs compared to the 11.5 lbs for My Ultimate AR.

You guys have some sweet rifles.
I just wish that the PRS could be made shorter (A1 length).

[#9]
With the PRS adjusted to its shortest length, it is about half an inch shorter than an A2 stock.

When I laid mine next to an A1 stock it was longer.
When I laid it next to an A2 stock it was the same length.
Mine was longer than an A1 stock.
That's the length I want, A1 length.
I want to be able to keep my nose on the charging handle.

Range Report #2

I finally had some time to load up some more Sierra 77 grain MatchKings and fire some 10-shot groups through My Ultimate AR.  Shooting was done from a bench-rest at 100 yards using the Leupold 4.5-14 X 50mm Long Range/Tactical scope and the Magpul PRS stock as pictured below.

+

=

The best 10-shot group measured 0.80”.  (The X-ring on the targets measures 1.5".)  The three 10-shot groups overlayed on each using RSI Shooting Lab software to form a 30-round composite group had a mean radius of 0.30”.  For comparison, three 10-shot groups of IMI M193 fired from a free-floated Colt HBAR had a mean radius of 0.72".  With just over 1,000 rounds through the rifle I have had zero malfunctions to date!

Here are two pictures showing the full range of adjustment for the cheek riser and butt plate.  For the cheek riser, 29 clicks of the wheel give 0.75" of rise.  For the butt plate, 38 clicks add almost an extra inch to the length of pull.

Too bad it doesn't have a minus 20 clicks for the butt plate.

The stock is adjustable, but not retractable, but then who knows how some bureaucrat in California defines terms.  With the buttplate adjusted to its shortest length the stock is still not quite as short as an A1 stock so I don't see why it would be a problem.  Maybe someone from Cali can chime in or why not go to the source and ask them....mailto:[email protected]

And mine.  Bone stock except for the PRS butt and DPMS grip.  I cannot see any reason to modify it more since it holds 3 inch five shot groups at 500 yards with BH 79 gr. molly MKHP.

Does Magpul still work on a v2.0 PRS stock ? I thought they were looking into replacing the screws or something like that ?

I'm not sure what it is you're asking, but here is a quote from Magpul's website that might help you.

The Magpul PRS  "... is a drop in replacement for standard AR15/M16 full sized stocks and uses stock A1/A2 rifle receiver extension (buffer tube) without the A2 spacer."
