Hi Marshall.
I will be ordering a Gen 8 with riser today. I probably don't need the killflash, but have a feeling if I don't get it I will regret it later. I've read this entire thread and just want to make sure that I will be OK with the PA Mount - and I don't need to upgrade to the ADM mount for a lower 1/3 co-witness. Some reviews I found online make me think it might be worth the money to upgrade either way... but I believe those reviews are of the early models. If this doesn't work out on my AR the way I am hoping I can still use this on a VZ-58 without issue? Or would that one need to be a Gen 7? ETA: I realize these are probably stupid questions, but I wanted to make sure I order the right thing the first time - unlike just about every other thing I order :) Thanks. |

The relocated LED solved the cowitness issue. |

Got my gen 8 killflash with the ADM QD riser today, good stuff! Hope to get out and play this weekend.
Thanks again! |
|
I got mine the other day with the ADM mount, took it out to the range and I am VERY impressed. Zeroed it and removed it from the rifle to zero the Irons and when I reinstalled it I didn't have to make any adjustments. I have a carbine course coming up and am considering using this on my rifle instead of the rifle with the aimpoint M4. I will be ordering another one for my Recon offset application on Monday. BTW it was accurate enough to hit a fly at 10 yrds during some close up drills.

Ruger MKIII + Primary Arms Micro = FUN FUN FUN!!!!!
I put some rounds through it for the first time today, the micro turned it into a whole new gun. I am absolutely in love again!!! Thank you again PA for bringing a reasonably priced, QUALITY product to the market. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRhX4pjl74A |

I'll bet this is a unique use of a MicroDot: http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb277/mdar15manager/Personal/IMG_9610.jpg On a Tommy 20 'Nerf' gun. Wow, you're a lot younger looking than your 38k+ posts would lead one to believe! |

Marsh,
Couple questions: How do you tell what generation is a given unit - is it the model # as in "MD-0#" printed on the side? Exactly what are the differences in the generations, specifically what gen is the first to include the 4:30 emitter? Are there significant technical limitations to the size of the red dot? The reason I ask is that most of the various brands seem to be 3 MOA or larger and it seems to me that a 1 MOA dot would be ideal. And a comment: Oleg's photography is amazing and makes your products look extra shiny. |
|
The Gen #s are somewhat misleading as Gen 6, 7, 8 are all the newest version with the 4:30 emitter. The differences between them are in the mount and killflash.
Gen 6: removable base, can be used with optional riser and most T-1 mounts Gen 7: fixed low base made for pistols, AKs, shotguns etc. Gen 8: Same as Gen 6 but has a killflash |

The factory screwed up the marking on the last order but the numbers were causing a lot of confusion. People though the higher the number meant newer with more features. All being shipped have the 4:30LED and longer battery life. A single 1 MOA dot can be hard to pick up especailly in bright light. |

Hey Marshall, any chance you could take a couple pictures of a PA Micro sitting next to one of the new green reflex sights?? I'm considering downsizing to the smaller reflex sight for my Ruger .22lr pistol and would like to get an idea of difference in size, height, lens area ect. It would be much appreciated.

http://pages.ripco.net/~tin-man/other/ar-nov2010.jpg Gen 8 with the LaRue riser. Red dot lines up perfectly with the Troy irons when they are up. Able to maintain a great cheek-weld with this setup. Hi Revision, great pic of the Gen 8. What LaRue mount did you get? It looks like the LT751 but wanted to confirm. Thanks! |
|
I just got my Gen 8 and LT660HK mount today. I'm building the new SBR upper soon... I'll post pics then.
If the battery life on the new version is what I'm hearing it is, I'll probably be replacing my two Gen 3 blems before long too. |

Wow really like how this thread turned out and no considering it for a backup sight or suggesting it to a budget minded friend or two Wish some people would post more range reports with the mirco dot very interested about it and the new Micro QD Mount LT751 I'm putting it on an 11-87 slug gun that I'm picking up on Saturday. I'll let y'all know how it holds up as soon as I get a chance to shoot it. STILL WAITING ... Sorry for the delay. It's held up well on the 11-87. The gun is set up for deer hunting in the hills of southern IL. I have a Marlin 512 that is extremely accurate and is great for hunting on crop fields in central & northern IL, but it is too heavy and slow handling for the type of shooting that we do down there. My only complaint with the 11-87 set up has nothing to do with the quality of the PA sight. The gun has a Speedfeed IV stock on it and when I shoulder it the dot is about a quarter to half inch low & my eye doesn't acquire it as quickly as I like. I'm not sure what I'll change.for next year, it will either be a spacer or one of the other PA micro dots. |
|
Put one of these on my Remington 870. I managed to put about 30 rounds of 12 guage ammo including a few slugs. So far the sight has held up well. Hopefully when I have more time, I'll put some more rounds down range.
All this being said, I am very satisfied with the optic. |

Marshall, I want the PA Micro #7 (fixed base) for $79.. for my DPMS AR w/A3 and MBUS Can I run this type of .83" '3-slot' riser to get co-witness (when they are flipped up) or another type per se' (Larue etc)..?? http://accessoryarms.com/forums/ARR-375.jpg The reason I ask is because the base of your model seems the same as the Bushnell TRS-25 and some people have pictures showing co-witness with that type of item.. http://accessoryarms.com/forums/Bushnell25.jpg I also am not liking the QD lever idea.. (bad experiance in the past) Al –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– The Gen #s are somewhat misleading as Gen 6, 7, 8 are all the newest version with the 4:30 emitter. Got mine sighted in today before this Sundays 3-gun match. Can't wait to play with this out in the bays.

Marshall, I did not see it mentioned, but how SECURE is the optional riser w/ QD mount you guys offer for the microdot? Can it hold zero after being detached and attached?
|
|
Does anyone have a pic of the 3x or 5x magnifier + the microdot?

I haven't tested the zero hold yet - but the lever has a locking feature. Once in place you need to push a button to flip the lever. Seems very secure to me (and that is comparing it to my LaRue mounts). |

Cool picture and cute gal. She is not only pretty but has that "wholesome girl next door" look about her, which is incredibly attractive. |

How does the newest gen Micro sit on an LT-660 mount (the regular tall one)?
That's what I'd want for a regular T1 whenever I get around to spending the money on one but for now I think a PA clone will fit my needs perfectly. |

Just placed an order for the newest generation Micro Dot with killflash to upgrade the one on my AR, and included a magnifier with FTS base. I'm really looking forward to getting it.

My Micro Dot on a Larue LT660HK QD Mount. Provides absolute co-witness with the Magpul MBUS front and rear.

Pull that dead horse out again
So with the 3rd Gen PA Mirco (I own one) and the LaRue LT660HK mount, you should get absolute co-witness on Ar's with F-marked front sight and most flip up rears (I run A.R.M.S. 71R) P.S. that shot gun above me, makes me cry with fear. |
