So if it was a car, a tv, or anything else (ya know right to personal property and all) I'm guessing Narc would have it back by now... This timeline doesn't seem reasonable.
New Jersey... How many unsolved shootings with a 556 or 223 do you have...? Yeah I'm guessing not that many to "compare" ballistics on. |

Bummer Narc, It's the pits having it stolen by a thief in the first place. But it's even worse having it stolen again by the police!!!!!!! You should take them to court to make them pay you $1,000 a month in rental fees....... Back pay is due immediately!!!!!!

I'm not reading all the pages of commentary but for everyone crying that's it's taking forever to get back, keep in mind that they have to hold it as evidence for a period of time after conviction of the suspect pending the expiration of an appeal period. That could vary in length depending on the crime. Six months is not unheard of. If the defendant were to successfully appeal his conviction and the evidence was gone, how do you think the new trial is going to go?

View Quote This along with the back-log at the crime lab for processing the weapon for possible use in other crimes. My weapon which was recovered, took over 18 months to get processed. Its just not a high priority to a crime lab to process & return, when there are other active cases needing attention. It sucks, but, its just property. ~Will |

Just the typical government bullshit,so really how many crimes is a ar15 used in that it would take a year or more to get it back?there is a certain window from the time it was stolen to the time it was recovered,to compare to along with having it for a trial? Wouldent a picture of the recovered stolen property be sufficient? Do they hold stolen cars that long?
Hope you get your stuff back a sap Pete |

Hope you get your stuff back a sap Pete View Quote They do ballistics testing on a round fired from held property weapon and compare those bullets to other similar caliber bullets. Since a .223 barreled rifle can also shoot .22LR - it can take a bit. Then there isn't a universal program that compares striations & tool marks, so its up to individual examiners to get into the database and compare & clear their cases or questions. All the while, the property cannot be released until cleared. And its not a high priority... Its actually one of the lowest priorities... Will |

I have some experience in the car situation,my truck was stolen by a dirtbag who broke into our warehouse.when recovered 2 weeks later it was returned 2 days after they found it.
To be perfectly frank the police did more damage to it than the dirtbag crooks.they had decided there might be a dime bag hidden in the truck so they tore it apart lookin.of course they found shit. Now we all know in two weeks the truck could have been used in a hundred crimes, but they still returned it.apparently they can figure out some things if they want. I still call bullshit on the fact they still have narc's gun.they should have a timeframe to return property to it's owner, not just a whim that it may have been part of a crime. Pete |

I've been watching this thread hoping against hope that he gets his gun(s) back.
This is NJ we are talking about - are we sure the cops didn't decide to arrest him for actually owning guns in NJ? If it was Mass (where I live) they would seriously consider arresting me for failure to secure or some other BS. Ignoring the House Alarm, Safe Monitor, Multiple Locked Doors and a Liberty Safe bolted to the floor. NARC - if you are still out there, keep the faith, we are all pulling for you, even those of us that don't post much. |
