Yep. Says out for delivery.
Looks like I'm going to be stuck running a SWFA scope on it this weekend. I really don't wanna pull something else off another rifle. Unfortunately I couldn't lock anything down before then since I'm attempting to budget funds for the BuildAR list too. |

The eagle has landed... I repeat, the eagle has landed.
Now how to open this without people freaking out. Might have to run out to the car! |

I'm pretty sure it's 18", but the location of the gas block is interesting, it's pretty close to the muzzle. Excited for the results! |

Looks like a +2 gas system to handle peak port pressure???? My guess is that it is that way to avoid having to use a high pressure (smaller firing pin) bolt that are sometimes used for 6mm and 6.5mm large frame ARs to avoid blowing primers. Hey if it works and is reliable, I'm game. |
|
|
Yep, like the few others the gas system is longer than the 7.62s were.
I'll be hitting the range with it on Saturday with a few types of ammo. Might be able to reload some for it too. Have another couple days for locating an optic, but most likely I'll just run it with the SWFA so I'm not rushed. |
|
|
Damn, that is sexy! The 260 is very easy to dial loads in for. I can't wait for your range report!

I hope we get a 26" barrel option.
That's purty. Real purty. |

Now that I'm thinking about it, that would prolly be more applicable to longer length barrels (say 20-22 inch) with rifle length gas Got any science / physics people in here??? Very nice! It's also possible that it's to combat the traits caused by the burn rate of some powders which may not be as "friendly" in a DI system, which aren't a large factor to consider in a bolt rifle.
IE: Some people are of the opinion that H4350, despite it's fantastic traits for 6.5mm rounds, does not perform well in an AR system due to burn rate. Fact of the matter is it DOES perform amazingly, but just requires a lower load in the 39-41gr range. |

Is it Saturday yet?

Whoa how cool is that!! What a great project / undertaking to have, I look forward to all of your reviews. Keep up all the "HARD" work!

We all know the outcome Mike will add another spot in the top 10
Just seriously hoping for longer sticks |

It's pouring rain. So far it's zeroed on Corbon. I'm about to begin shooting my load development rounds consisting of Lapua 139gr Scenars, New Lapua brass, CCI bench rest primers, and H4350.
So far my verdict is this... Anyone wanna buy a 7.62 Tobr? ;) Yeah. It's that nice. Unbelievably soft shooting. Quiet suppressed. And I don't see a single negative vs the 308 Tobr. It's an all around win. Oh and it groups my brass in the neatest little piles! It's also very easy on brass. Will be a pleasure to reload. |

You are killing me! I am guessing it is 1-8 rifling? Also curious about max mag length.
If you get a chance you may want the 130 Berger AR Hybrids. Looking forward to your updates. |

Great report, now I'm antsy for these to come out to order one.

Damn fine work - on your behalf and the equipment's.

So what do you think so far Mike
|
|
|
Absolutely love everything about it.
My biggest concern is that I don't know how much use my 7.62 Tobr will see now. The wheels are turning in my head, trying to figure out what to do with the 7.62 now and how to put it to best use. Once suppressed the 260 feels like it has no recoil vs. the .308 round. It's just an insanely smooth, flat shooting round. Better ballistics, better shooting experience, and just an all around fun rifle to shoot. What's interesting is that the 6.5CM round was my favorite centerfire rifle round prior to this. I know very well they are almost identical and I had shot 260 in the past (Albeit in bolt rifles) and enjoyed it, but never to this degree. I was slightly concerned that my 6.5 rifle would maintain its position in my safe, but the 260 has dethroned it. It is now in the back. It's so very hard to explain. I wish I could put some of you behind them side by side to get a feel. The 6.5 is an absolutely fantastic round and I will continue to shoot it, but this 260? Feels right. As I stated, I am well aware that the 260 and 6.5 are almost the exact same. My 6.5 rifle has top of the line parts all around but it just doesn't feel as right as the 260. LaRue Tactical has conquered the 260 round and I cannot wait till you guys are able to try it out. With that said, if anyone is in the JBLM area of Washington state, shoot me a PM. I'd be happy to let you put some rounds down range on post so you can see what I mean. We can line up the 260 Tobr, 7.62 Tobr, and my 6.5 CM. |
