I run this same setup.  It is a perfect fit if you plan on using the Vortex Defender flip caps.

thanks for the info.  I'm going to try it out with the 1.45" rings.  If it doesn't fit right, I'll swap out for something higher.

Took my 308 out today and between 3 of us we put another 60 rounds of 1980s surplus thru it.  We were shooting at steel swingers at about 75 yards.  Bullet impacts were touching.

90 degrees with a cross wind.

Hoikdi g to the left 2"

My buddy's loved shooting it.

Ok so i pulled my extremely tactacol walmart fish scale out to measure the pull weight of my trigger.

It breaks at less than a pound.

Picked up a GoPro Friday, been playing with it all weekend.

Short clip of my rpr 6.5 and saker 762.

Figured post 5000 should be something neat.

No, I wouldn't say it's a good price.  Even with the military discount that seems way too high.

For Rainer it is

But no.

My local sportsman's warehouse has had them for $1200 in store for about 2 months.

No.  Palmetto State had them for $1,200 on their website last week w/ Free Shipping.  They had another batch a couple of weeks before that.
Vendor-wise, that's about the lowest I've seen them.  You might be able to sign up for their "Back In Stock" notifications and get a jump on one for next time.

A friend just bought a brand new gen 2 for 1050. I am generally willing to spend a good bit more for a completely unfired rifle over one with a few rounds down it.

Is there a guide on how to set up the stock so it is perfect for me?
This is my first experience with a rifle of this calibre and precision.
I have never been fitted for a gun before.
How do I fit the gun the me?
Is there any tips or techiques?

Also what is the recommended bullet weight / grain to break in the gun?

Agreed, you may be better off putting it back to stock and selling off the upgrades separately.

Here's a short rundown on some of the things to look for with fitment.  http://www.longrangehunting.com/articles/fitting-long-range-rifle-2.php

As far as ammo, just shoot FMJ ball ammo for break in.  Ball ammo isn't inherently super accurate, so don't stress about not printing quarter-size groups, just get a good feel for where the approximate zero is.

It's nice.

The diameter is similar to the factory knob, but it's a fair bit longer.

The stock foam is good for about 1-2 trips. It's already starting to bow up and gets out of form.

New stuff will be ordered this week, now that I have the final rifle configuration.

Case was posted by another member(thanks btw) Plano 42" all weather.

So I took it out and got it somewhat zeroed in.    Well as good as I could with 1980s production military surplus 308 and some wolf 308 that I had in the garage.

Stopped into the HUB up here in Showlow AZ.  They have the Harris, Atlas, and the ACCU-TEC bipods.  Kinda digging the ACCU's.  Not digging the $250 price tho.

At some point, I hope to actually get mine to the range...;)

Just ordered 5x boxes of FGMM 168s through Palmetto State, they had them on sale for $15.99/box....I haven't seen it that cheap in a long time.  Too bad they didn't drop the 175s that cheap, I would have likely ordered a case.  I have 3x .308s that I haven't even shot yet, so the FGMM should give me a good idea of what they are capable of before I start working up loads.
