I recently discovered these. They look like they could be useful.
Who has one? Any advice on where to find them, or how to make them? I found the bits at Lowe's, and they obviously carry some pipe I could cut for the ring, but I don't know jack about welding
Looks cool, just find someone with a welder. Have it fitted, filed/sanded clean and it's like, 5 minutes of welding including setup. That being said, what would you use it for?

I have one of those on my SAK SwissChamp. It's great for opening up bottles of wine and it actually works!

Kind of like a Gimlet auger.

OP, that's called a ring auger or Scotch eyed auger. Not easy to find new anymore but you may be able to find them at yard sales, especially in farm country. They are also available on eBay.
I found this source of new ring augers in German. They do ship to the US.

Use it for? Shrug...screwing around in the woods, of course!
Give me a tool and I'll find a project for it.

Which one did you go with? I have an old one I picked up on ebey, haven't done any projects with it but wanted one after I saw how handy a small amount wood working tools could be watching Richard Proenneke make literally anything you can imagine with an auger, saw, file, axe and chisel.

I picked up a 5/8 inch auger from Lowe's, but I haven't had it welded to a ring, yet. Had a few other things come up.
I'll post pictures when I get it done.

Someone on reddit bushcraft just had 20 of these made in china. He is selling off the extras if you are interested. Idk the seller, just linking the thread FYI.
