Sorry, a bit OT, but I posted this here as this is the forum and the guys I most care about.  I am always interested in where folks get their screen name from.

GP100Doc for me.  I really like my Ruger GP100 (obviously) and I am an old country vet, ergo, GP100Doc.  The pistol is my house protection gun, so that may make it SF related .

Anyone else care to divulge the origin of their "handle"?

Doc

Nickname that I picked up in college a long time ago (not saying exactly what year, but Jimmy Carter was in office). I was a big country boy straight from the farm, 6'3" and ~230 at the time. Our dorm rooms housed six guys in three sets of bunk beds, and lucky me got assigned to a top bunk. First time I jumped up there, the guy below me dove out of his bunk, yelling "EARTHQUAKE!!!". It just stuck.

My now-grown sons got the oaf syndrome worse than me. We're not overly bright, but my wife says we're handy for picking up heavy stuff. Some other forums I'm "John in AR"; started using that online name when I learned that Quake was apparently the name of some video game.

Years ago, we would go dog hunting in SD. We would use ATVs to drive out onto the prairie. We custom made platforms that mounted on the front of our ATVs that were equipped with gun racks, varmint rest (modified) to hold the main rifle, ammo can inserts and outriggers for when it was windy.

Once, when we were off-loading the ATVs in a farmer's yard (he gave us permission to hunt), the farmer was just in awe watching us within 5 minutes go from strapped ATVs on a trailer to ready to roll. We would roll out with such precision, accuracy, and fluidity, the farmer said something akin to: "Damn! You boys have your shit together! Looks like an episode of Rat Patrol (TV show reference, specifically the modified jeeps)"

It stuck.

Purple Bowl is a ski run you must climb to in Lake Louise. When I lived there in 1981, I skied Purple Bowl 4 times a week. It's called "Purple" because it faces North and almost never gets hit by the sun. This shadow makes it look purple.

I found this site MINUTES after placing an order for an AR45 lower from Khalan Weaponry.  My first AR and, like a lot of noobs, I bought something and then went looking for reviews.  That's how I found AR15.com.

Man, I wish I had found AR15.com before I placed my order

But that's water under the bridge and I'm still an AR45fan

I took mine from this guy. I had to add his position in my heart to get it to work. He passed back in 2013 but he was the best friend a person could have. My wife says I dwell on his memory too much, I just can't help it. Anyone that has had a dog as good as this one knows what it means.
