On to the usual details:
Current Attendees DavidC BSOG1 bicho 0612Devil Tosser Ops Alex +2 This is an open event but on the off chance it is hugely popular I'll have to cut the attendance off at some reasonable number. You don't need to show up for all four days, but you do need to let us know you plan to attend and when. Some general info on the property and things: This is a family-friendly event. If you plan on bringing family members who will be looking to do something else while you're working on your outdoors skillset, let me know and I'll send links to other activities in the general area. 42 acres, ~ 38 acres are wooded and moderate to fairly steep terrain. We can shoot safely at multiple locations on the property and we will be doing handgun and rifle events. The "project" for this event has not been determined; I'm thinking finishing up the 2nd rangersite and clear brush from the first, so we can do some more organized shooting. Maybe a more clearly defined "walk-through" shooting area. Controlled fires are permitted. We have fire pits set-up at the campsite. ATVs are permitted. One of the attendees at the last evenyt had no trouble getting his UTV all the way to the campsite, so no issues there. Some of the less used ATV trails are not usable by really large ATV/UTVs. Attendees are responsible for their own food. There is a small market in the nearest town if you need those types of supplies. Alcohol is permitted after shooting activities are completed for the day. Drunken behavior is not. Don't get pissed if I ask you to sign a release if we do shooting activities. Yes, I'm paranoid. There are plenty of places to shoot safely. There is a running stream on the property if you want to use it as a water supply. It may or may not have water in it; it depends on what the weather has been like. There is a spring that I have deeded access to as well, but I've never used it. There is potable water available on site regardless, at the main cabin, so you don't need to bring filled water cans unless you want to; you can fill them on-site We will be using the pack-in campsite. it's about a half-mile walk from where the parking is. At the very least, my ATV will be available to run supplies and equipment from the parking area to the camping area. The elevation change from the parking area to the campsite is about 300 feet. Ask questions in the thread about the terrain; it's not as easy to handle as you might think. Remember: despite the easy availability of water and prepared trails this is primitive camping, with all that entails. We've done a fair amount of prep work on the campsite in the past, and there is a nice flat area that we use as the main camp that has space for at least 20-25 tent sites (that aren't on top of each other). If we get a larger turnout, I can clear some additional space. The area is in NE PA, less than 20 miles from NYS and 60 miles west of Scranton, PA. What to do if you plan to attend: Email me with your confirmation. Not IM; hit the email button. This lets me keep track of the attendees in one place. If you've never been to a previous event and need directions, let me know where you are coming from and I'll generate directions for you (send me at least your ZIP code when you request directions). Posting in this thread is NOT confirmation. If you are bringing other people with you, let me know. I just want to keep a headcount. You can arrive at the camp anytime you like starting on Wednesday; formally, the event is Thursday-Sunday. If your camping requirements mean that you bring a trailer/pop-up/fifth-wheel, RV, etc., it's not a problem, but that means you'll be down in the marked parking area while the tent campers will be on the top of the ridge. In the image attached, the parking area and campsite area are clearly marked. My home is the building in the cleared area below the space marked for parking, not the small rectangular shaped house and pool; that's a neighbor who shares the driveway.. The black outlines are my property lines; it's not an issue if we stray onto the other neighbors wooded property, but shooting activities will be confined to my land.. Fun moment from the Spring camput |

I'd definitely be interested in attending but won't be able to give it a definite yes until very close to the event.

My plans for August is to be at D.C. for the 8/28 Rally. So I think sometime in September would be more to my liking.
If anyone is inteested, I'll be at the cabin from the 18th through the 24th. You're wekcome to come by. Usually I'm only there for a day or two each week, but I'll be there for those 7 days.
September works better for me also.
Not sure of what to do just yet, give me a coupla days to think up something. Ops |
anytime will work for me... i may be getting knee surgery, if i do, iill need a ride in on the quad.
Nick said he'll hump the rest of my stuff.... |
The only days I know of that won't work for me in Sept. are the 15-19th. The Northeastern Grand occurs during that time frame and I'm planning on being there.
Thanks for the heads up David. I wount know more untill we see what transpires with the new engine for the race car. I hope I can make it. Then again I hope we get our ducks in a row with this damn car lol

How's the first weekend in October look for everyone (Sept 30, Oct 1,2,3)?
I'll be archery hunting weekend of Oct 2. You may also have hunters in the woods near your property that weekend and most weekends after that.
Then again you could camp nearer the cabin and work on the rifle range. |
October ?? lol..ill forget how to shoot by then. im ready now for a Mission.

LOL LOL.....Nick is my bitch. that was good.
yes, Nick and i where talking coming up around the 21-23 area ? if your up then ? that would be cool.... |
I am in if i can swing it at work. The more notice the better on the actual dates. Anything that remotely resembles a holiday is blacked out on my vacation request calendar though... gotta work them all.

Remind me, how vehicle accessable is this? The insurance company now owns my truck
its not car camping. You have to hump your gear up a steepish hill for about 1/4 mile.
There normally are ATVs there though to help haul your stuff. |

yooo Tosser, what do ya think ? 21-23 ?
that would work awesome, i have a party for my buddy near Langhorne on the 24th , he just came back from the shitbox. i mean sandbox...lol |

Don't mind humping gear, but could I reasonably get to the parking in a four door family sedan? Or is it 5 miles up washed out gravel with a stream crossing? Back in the day, I used to day hike more vertical elevation change tha PA even has elevation. If you can get an ATV up it, I certainly can, even more-than-a-few years later. But I don't want to be the 'donor' for vehicle recovery practice. I'm out west, but thinking about it. |

I can confirm that Sept. 10-12 will be a definite no go for me. I'll be in PA at the Westy Hogan shoot in Elysburg. Sept. 14-19 are also a no go as I'll be @ the Northeastern Grand here in NY.
I really want to make it to one of these trips. If it doesn't interfere with my schedule and I can afford it I'm there. |

The 9/30 - 10/3 weekend works best for me. If there are no major objections, that will be the date. I understand Russ's hunting concerns, but he's the only person I've ever seen bowhunting that area.
If people are bowhunting there that would be tresspassing, no? Assuming you gave no one permission...

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile You guys have an open invitation to hunt the land (just let me know) but only Russ and Matt have taken me up on it. Other than that, no one I'm aware of. So basically, unless someone bitches about it really hard by tomorrow, I'm going to set the date. |
i don't hunt.... i think its cool and all. just don't do it.
i consider mysellf Lead Management...lol... i fill the earth will Lead. as for shooting, maybe we can go to a different spot ? so the neighbors don't complain ? i have a place or two we might be able to use. |

Are any of you guys and gals going to the 8/28 in DC? If so I'm camping with some friends close by in VA and driving into DC for the event. There's 4 of us so far, but room for more. We're going to be at an RV park/ campground which is yet to be determined.
Sorry to Hijack the thread Dave, but I don't know another group of people I like camping with more! If any of you want to meat up or camp, you can e-mail me. |
I was just reading about it.... yea maybe. that would be cool. i hate DC though....
Wish I could make it, but I will be back at college
Hope you guys have an awesome time though, and I might be able to make it up there again if there is a winter trip. I get off school for a month sometime in the winter. |

Laura and I are again going to try our best to make it. Last go round I think he family flew up from VA or something.
Being as we didnt go racing this weekend and she had to go to Long Island for a baby shower. I figured I would be productive. So I pulled bolth tents out to air them out today. One little 2 man and one big arse dome tent/condo. Ofcourse Laura wants to take the "condo" Pulled all my gear out and starting taking inventory. Along with rifles , ammo , toys. So I coud make a list and include anything we will need into the budget. Any planned activitys yet? Somone mentioned thats the opening for PA bow season. Do you have any stands on your property David? Are you in zone 3c? |

Should make things a bit more comfy... eta: Every time I make it up there, I learn a new lesson. I'll have it figured out one of these days. |
